Apple cherry tahini crumble naturally sweetened with Apple Cherry Butter and topped with a tahini, oat, and almond crumble topping.
M’s brother is in town from Germany and staying with us for a few weeks!
It’s been so nice to have him here to share all of our favorite DMV things with.
But of all of the places and spaces, it’s the time being around each other at home that are the most special.
Laughing on the couch, razzing each other in the kitchen, and perched around the kitchen table.
Which also means that I’m currently not feeding just one, but TWO hungry boys.
So I’ve been pulling out all of the hefty meal prep recipes– casseroles, sheet pan meals, and stews.
Substantial meals and portions that will feed people for multiple days.
We all *really* enjoyed this Apple Cherry Tahini Crumble last week.
It’s naturally sweetened with Eden Foods Apple Cherry Butter and topped with a tahini, oat, and almond crumble topping.
Try baking a pan for an easy summer breakfast or dessert!
What You Need to Make Apple Cherry Filling
Here’s what you need for the crumble filling:
- apples
- cherries
- lemon juice
- maple syrup
- Eden Foods Organic Apple Cherry Butter Spread
That’s it!
How to Make Apple Cherry Filling
First, preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a baking dish with coconut oil.
I chose a baking dish that was 9 x 13, but any similar sized baking dish will work.
Combine the sliced apples, cherries, lemon juice, maple syrup, and the apple cherry butter in a large mixing bowl.
You can peel your apples or leave the skins on; either method works here!
Toss everything until the fruit is sticky and well-coated.
Eden Foods Apple Cherry Butter
Adding Eden Foods Organic Apple Cherry Butter Spread to this recipe makes the apple cherry filling super saucy, sweet, and tart.
This delicious fruit spread is the best blend of organic Montmorency Tart Cherries and organic Michigan apples.
I love all of Eden Foods Fruit Spreads because they’re made with no added sugar and are naturally sweetened with real fruit and fruit juice.
Try spreading it on toast, pancakes, oatmeal, and, of course, in your baking!
This crumble was actually inspired from the flavor profile of this fruit spread: tangy, sweet, and intriguing.
What You Need to Make Tahini Crumble
Here’s what you need for the crumble topping:
- gluten-free old fashioned rolled oats
- almond flour
- Eden Foods Tahini Organic Roasted Sesame Tahini
- maple syrup
That’s it!
Eden Foods Roasted Sesame Tahini
You’re probably not surprised to see tahini in this recipe…because I include tahini in everything!
Using Eden Foods Tahini Organic Roasted Sesame Tahini acts as a binder for this crumble without adding any oils.
The delicious seed butter is made from organic tan sesame seeds that are hulled, dry roasted, and ground.
It’s naturally vegan and gluten-free and makes a delicious tahini dressing.
However, I love baking with my tahini like we do in this crumble!
The slight bitterness of the sesame see butter offsets the juicy sweetness of apples and cherries.
How to Make Tahini Crumble
In a separate bowl, add the rolled oats, almond flour, maple syrup, and tahini.
Mix everything well with a spoon so the oats and almond flour are well-coated.
You want the mixture to be sort of piece-y and crumbly…that’s why we call it a crumble!
Putting It Together
Now let’s assemble this thing.
First, add the fruit to the bottom of the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
Next, add the crumble layer on top by crumbling it over the fruit in small chunks.
Transfer the pan to the oven and bake the crumble for 35-45 minutes, or until the top of the crumble is golden brown.
Serve the crumble warm with a drizzle of tahini and your favorite fruit.
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to one week and reheat before serving.
I love my crumble warm and pie-like, but you can also enjoy it chilled!
Enjoy!
How to Serve Apple Cherry Tahini Crumble
Enjoy this Apple Cherry Tahini Crumble as a delicious summer breakfast, snack, or dessert.
It’s a great way to use a ton of cherries and apples.
I love that it tastes like pie but is low in prep time and easy to whip up in under an hour.
The hardest part of this recipe is pitting and slicing all of the cherries, so, maybe we should invest in a cherry pitter, hmm?
I love the combination of apples and cherries together, but you can do all cherries or all apples if you want.
You can also sub fruit in for the berries for different variations.
Enjoy!
