5-ingredient beet brownie bliss balls made with cacao powder, nut butter, and roasted beets! Perfect for a healthy snack, dessert, or pre/post workout fuel.
Friends!
How has your weekend been?
I’ve had beets on the brain since my trip with Love Beets this past week to visit their organic beet farm and factory.
After eating many a beet during my stay in upstate New York, you’d think I might be sick of this hearty root veggie.
…FAT CHANCE.
Things have been a little topsy-turvy here after traveling, so I decided to grab some beets upon my return and make bliss balls!
These Beet Brownie Bliss Balls only require 5-ingredients, 1 Love Beet, and a little room in the fridge (and your stomach) for healthy snacking all week long!
Fun Fact: You can trace my first version of these bliss balls back to the Total Solar Eclipse of Summer 2017.
Did you see it?!
I didn’t have the special viewing glasses here at home, so Harper and I stayed indoors and made bliss balls instead.
To be honest I didn’t notice it getting freakishly dark outside, so maybe we weren’t in a very good viewing zone.
Anyway, snacking on chocolate and beets to celebrate, I fondly called them “Blackout Beetroot Bliss Balls”.
But they taste like brownies, so I decided a name change was in order.
What You Need to Make Beet Brownie Bliss Balls
Here’s what you need:
- oat flour
- roasted beet
- nut butter
- raw cacao powder
- Medjool dates
- hemp hearts
- raw cacao powder
That’s it!
You’re going to love these bite sized brownie bliss balls!
They’re moist, chocolate-y, and chewy.
The recipe is gluten free, oil free, and naturally sweetened with juicy Medjool dates!
And there’s a brave beet in there acting like a veggie ninja extraordinaire.
How to Make Beet Brownie Bliss Balls
I was already a huge fan of Love Beets, but seeing the entire process from farm to factory to bliss ball gives my beet-inspired baking and cooking a little more context.
I love the way that they’re transforming the way the general public thinks about beets.
Because beets…are the coolest.
Especially when they’re organically grown and already peeled, roasted, and ready for ANYTHING.
Throwing a Love Beet in the recipe adds moisture, vitamins and minerals, and a touch of earthiness and sweetness.
Feeling skeptical throwing a beet into your bliss balls?
Trust me, I was too at first!
If you’ve tried my Oil -Free Dark Chocolate Beet Muffins, you know that beets and chocolate go together like peas and carrots.
So it’s like that pairing except there’s no oven required and you can spoon the goodness out of the blender and into your mouth in less than 10 minutes flat.
If you can’t find Love Beets near you, sub one small roasted and peeled beet instead!
The balls have got just the right amount of “stickiness” without being oily (a pet peeve of mine with bliss balls!).
The dates, beet, and raw cacao powder blend together to make a wonderful bittersweet chocolate flavor that’s perfect to snack on.
For sweeter balls, throw in an extra date or two.
To make this recipe grain-free, sub almond flour for the oat flour for varied results.
Swaps & Substitutions
If you’re looking for more of a protein punch, try subbing half or all of the cacao powder for your favorite chocolate protein powder.
I used almond butter in my balls, but any nut butter will work!
Cashew or peanut butter would be fantastic here, too.
Try rolling them cacao powder for a powdered finish or raw hemp hearts for texture.
For an extra antioxidant blast, mix in cacao nibs for a double the chocolate!
How to Serve Beet Brownie Bliss Balls
Enjoy these Beet Brownie Bliss Balls as an energizing anytime treat.
I like to make a bunch on Sunday to keep in the refrigerator for bite-sized brownie bliss all week long!
They’re perfect for a mid-morning or afternoon snack, or to pop a few in your mouth before or after a sweat session.
Because they’re “truffle-esque”, these bliss balls could (and should) definitely pass for dessert, too!

What a coincidence I have been on a beet kick the past couple weeks – just finished 5 cubes for bedtime snack? This recipe – these look amazing. I cannot wait to try. By the way have you tried NuttZo yet is an amazing 100% nut and seed butter and *celtic sea salt. Hear about on the TFF podcast and finally the Costco in my area starting carrying it and was able to try today. It is seriously the BOMB! Let me know if you get a chance to try it and what you. Thank you for all of the awesome, inspiring words and VEGAN WHOLE PLANT SOS recipes you provide. I look forward to every email I receive from you.
Best,
Lisa

I found these by following a Reddit link, and I am excited to try them! Wanted to clarify – use a blender for these, or a food processor?
Hi Natalie! You can use a blender or food processor- either will do the job! I used my Vitamix! Let me know what you think!
