Let me tell you a story that will have you believing in the undeniable power of manifestation. 

This past weekend I went hiking at Lamb’s Knoll on the Appalachian Trail with M and a friend. 

The way down always feels longer, because you’ve already taken pictures of the view, eaten your PB&J, and rested at the summit. 

So, to keep morale up, we joked that at the bottom there would be burgers waiting on us. 

We emerged from the wooded trail into a meadow with a picnic shelter area, where we saw people…and food.

While we walked by, sweating and heavy-footed, a nice man stopped us and asked if we were hungry. 

“Can I put a burger on the grill for you?” he asked, and we looked at each other in amazement.

And friends…he even had veggie burgers. The burger manifestation is real! 

Apparently the local church treats hikers to a meal just twice a year at this exact hiking location.

And we just happened to come on the right day and the right time! 

The only thing that could have made it better would be if they had had these Viral Chocolate Blueberry Yogurt Bites at the bottom.

Did I ever tell you that I named my car? 

Well, technically M did. 

If you ever watched episodes of the old show “Psych” (M and I binge-watched during pandemic) you might remember that Shawn and Gus’s car was referred to as “the blueberry”, because it was a brilliant color of blue. 

That’s when M started calling my car the raspberry, because it’s candy apple red.

The nickname stuck, and 3 years later we still refer to it as “the raspberry” in conversation. 

Which I’m sure might be confusing for eavesdroppers…

“The raspberry is totally covered in pollen!”

“The raspberry could really use an oil-change.”

“Did you lock the raspberry?” 

But it’s fine, because it makes car conversations cute and approachable (not usually the case in my experience) and also because I love raspberries.

The most exciting news that I have to share is that we *finally* got some furniture for the deck! 

One of my goals for this year is to really be able to enjoy our patio space. 

I say this every year and then every year it kind of becomes an afterthought of unswept leaves and gardening relics.

I’m envisioning our new patio table and chairs, some herbs and flowers, and of course, lots of plants.

I can’t wait to meet them and feel so honored already to be a part of their “village”.

By now, you might have heard that my big fitness goal for the year is practicing inversions. 

I’m following a guided 2-week inversion training plan that I’m doing over, and over, and over. 

It focuses on strengthening the muscles and getting the nervous system acquainted with the feeling of being upside down. 

Just like we have to learn to walk, we also have to learn to stand on hands!

It’s a lot of planks, push ups, down dogs, kick-ups, and assists from the sliver of wall that doesn’t have any picture frames.

This weekend I cut my hair for the first time in….a while.

And I don’t mean a trim, I mean a *real* haircut.

The kind where your hair stylist chops off inches and holds it up in the mirror for you to gasp in excited horror. 

I had been committed to growing out my hair since I had my pixie cut back in 2013. 

Sure, I had a few slip ups where I went short instead of long,  but for the most part, I’ve been on the “grow out” train for about 10 years. 

So it felt so liberating to walk in and show my girl pictures of lobs (long bobs) with a deep side part and say, “Let’s do this!”

The change feels so fresh and fun and I can’t stop reaching for the excess hair like a phantom limb where I used to be able to pull it back into a long pony.

I wish I could bottle that sense of newness, momentum, and expectancy in an elixir for bad days.
