Energize with this vegan matcha latte with almond milk and cinnamon. Super creamy and sugar free. All you need is 4 ingredients and 5 minutes!
Happy Sunday, everyone!
Today I’m sharing something a little different with you on the blog; it’s a beverage!
I’ve been feeling very “beverage-y” lately, because I’m fighting my second cold of 2018 and need all the warm healing liquids.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably heard me talk about switching from coffee to matcha in the new year.
It was a pretty seamless transition for me, but in those early days of matcha latte making my skills left a lot to be desired.
I’ve experimented with so many combinations since then and I’m excited to share with you my favorite!
This Cinnamon Almond Matcha Latte requires only 4 ingredients, 5 minutes, and a short sleepy walk from your bedroom to your kitchen.
Trust me, it’s worth the wake up.
Reasons to Love Matcha
If you haven’t tried drinking matcha yet, I highly recommend trying it!
I’ve never been a big green tea drinker– it always seemed a bit “grassy” to me.
Matcha, though, is rich and smooth and slightly bitter but pleasant, if that makes sense.
I’m probably not doing a very good job of describing it, so you’ll have to try for yourself.
It’s energizing and clears out the early morning brain fog without any of the jitters and anxiety that coffee exacerbated in me.
If not for the taste and benefits, you should try it just for the color.
PSA: Isn’t matcha absolutely GORGEOUS?!
I’d take that emerald green with me ANYWHERE.
What You Need to Make a Matcha Latte at Home
The recipe I outlined below uses some of my preferred products and utensils, but if you don’t have any of these items on hand, don’t worry!
In the beginning, my matcha latte ritual involved a miniature strainer as a sifter and a kitchen whisk in place of a matcha bamboo whisk.
And you can forget about the handheld milk frother.
However, anyone can make a matcha latte at home!
You just need matcha powder, your favorite unsweetened almond milk, lots of cinnamon, and a touch of sweetness.
If you find yourself making matcha lattes on a daily basis, I recommend investing in a small sifter, a bamboo whisk, and a small handheld milk frother.
Also, can I get a round of applause for Dan as THE hand model in this post?
Woooot!
Poor guy, I’m not very good at shouting directions from behind the camera but he did a darn good job of capturing all the scenes I wanted to bring this to life!
I’m also pretty sure he knows my matcha latte recipe by heart now.
How to Enjoy This Latte
Make this Cinnamon Almond Matcha Latte an energizing and cozy part of your routine to start your day.
I love to make mine first thing in the morning after mumbling a hello to Dan and downing a glass of lemon water.
It’s the perfect thing to sip on while you set your intentions and vibe for the hours ahead!
To mix things up, try using another flavor of nut milk- I think cashew or hazelnut would be great here.

Description
Energize with this vegan matcha latte with almond milk and cinnamon. Super creamy and sugar free. All you need is 4 ingredients and 5 minutes!
Ingredients
- 1 tsp organic matcha powder (I have had the most success with this kind)
- 1/4 cup boiling water
- 1+ cup almond milk, steamed
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- optional sweetener: 1/2-1 tsp pure maple syrup
Instructions
- Sift the matcha into a large mug with a sifter.
- Add the boiling water to the mug and whisk matcha with a bamboo matcha whisk (or sub a kitchen whisk instead) in an up and down motion “W” motion, until vibrant green and frothy – about 30 seconds.
- Pour in the steamed almond milk and whisk again briefly to combine. Use a handheld milk frother for 10-20 seconds to achieve foam, if desired.
- Sprinkle the latte with cinnamon and taste. Stir in optional sweetener, if desired– sometimes I do a tiny bit of maple syrup.
