Simple spiced nuts baked with cinnamon and nutmeg sweetened with coconut sugar and maple syrup. Bake for a holiday appetizer or gift!
Wait, how is it October?
On my neighborhood walk yesterday, M and I meandered through the neighborhood to check out the Halloween decorations.
There were plenty of pumpkins and on doorsteps and cob webs in windows.
One of the houses near the edge of my complex is *really* into decorating.
Multiple scarecrows, pumpkins, ghosts, and ghouls demanded attention from the lawn and sidewalk, making it impossible to walk by without taking notice.
As hyped decorations as they are, they seem to be equally as disinterested in the clean up.
To the right of the playful Halloween scene lie a heap of Christmas nutcrackers, lights on strings, and fake fir trees.
And it’s been there since last December.
Laugh out loud.
Whether you have your Halloween or Christmas decor on standby or not, the holidays are coming!
So here’s a quick recipe that’s bound to make you feel cozy this fall and winter.
These Easy Maple Spiced Nuts are easy enough to make in 30 minutes for a sweet crunchy snack, dessert, or appetizer.
Candied Nuts Made Healthier
Fact: Candied nuts are *so* good.
I mean, nuts alone are addicting, and then coating them in sugar and spices?
Yes, please.
Unfortunately, most of the store-bought blends out there are loaded with refined sugars and oils.
So let’s make one that’s lightened up and naturally sweet, shall we?
These Easy Maple Spiced Nuts are packed with healthy nutty fats and naturally sweetened with unrefined coconut sugar and maple syrup!
What You Need to Make Easy Maple Spiced Nuts
Here’s what you need:
- raw pecans
- Open Nature® Shelled Walnuts
- O Organics® Organic Coconut Oil
- ground cinnamon
- ground nutmeg
- Himalayan sea salt
- unrefined coconut sugar
- O Organics® Organic Pure Maple Syrup
That’s it!
How to Make Easy Maple Spiced Nuts
First, select your nut mixture while the oven preheats.
I used pecans and walnuts for this spiced nuts recipe, but any nuts will work!
Add the nuts to a large mixing bowl and toss with the melted coconut oil, coconut sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and maple syrup until they’re well coated, fragrant, and sticky.
Next, transfer the nuts to a baking sheet and spread into an even layer, making sure they don’t touch or overlap.
Bake them for a total of 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and fragrant.
I recommend tossing the nuts once at the halfway point to ensure even baking!

OK, so the kitchen smells amazing and your nuts are nicely browned and sticky sweet fresh out of the oven.
This is the hardest part.
Are you ready?
You have to wait for the nuts to cool before serving.
I believe in you.
Ensure the nuts are completely cool before storing in an airtight container.
How to Serve Easy Maple Spiced Nuts
Enjoy these Easy Maple Spiced Nuts for a sweet dessert, appetizer, or snack.
Try doubling or tripling the recipe to make a big batch for gifting!
I think they look fantastic in a mason jar tied with red ribbon for a thoughtful and delicious holiday gift.
The nuts keep for 3-4 weeks at room temperature so you don’t need to worry about them surviving during the holiday craziness!
Try mixing up the nuts and spices for different variations.
I think almonds or cashews would be fantastic here, too, in addition or in place of the walnuts and pecans.
To play with the spice blend, try adding coriander for more of a citrus note or a pinch of cayenne for some heat.
Enjoy!
