Delicious banana-free smoothie bowl that takes you to the tropics with every bite! Packed with healthy fats, protein, and leafy greens, but tastes like ice cream.
There’s something about waking up and consuming something green that makes you feel unstoppable.
This Green Galaxy Smoothie Bowl has been giving me life on mornings when I roll out of bed and ask myself:
- what time is it, 2. what day is it, and 3. what’s for breakfast.
The important stuff.
I had so much fun with (eating) my Blue Galaxy Bowl that I decided I might as well make an entire Galaxy Bowl series and share different galaxy color creations.
A reader requested green next, and I was secretly excited because I have a bit of a soft spot for green things before noon.
Do you?
This bowl smoothie bowl is low in sugar but packed with a fantastic combination of sweet mango, creamy avocado, and…
The hidden veg featured in this bowl (oh, come on, you knew there’d be something hiding in there!) is steamed and frozen green zucchini!
(see notes section of recipe for a brief tutorial on steaming and freezing zucchini!)
Like cauliflower, you can’t detect its neutral flavor but it works to boost the creamy consistency of your smoothie bowl.
I like to steam and freeze my zucchini over the weekend so I have the option to add it to smoothie bowls and smoothies all week long.
For fluffier bowls, I recommend freezing your greens too, if possible.
Blending greens from the fridge can make your smoothie bowl runnier than desired.
The next time you notice your spinach or kale turning faster than you can eat it, throw it in a bag and freeze for smoothie bowls!
If you don’t have frozen greens and are about to make this recipe, no worries, just use a little less almond milk to even things out.
I topped my bowl with my favorite signature galaxy bowl classics, but feel free to add your own!
Fresh mango, lime zest, or coconut butter would also be fantastic and play into the tropical vibe the smoothie gives off.
Try frozen peaches instead mango, for a different flavor and lower sugar content.
I hope you love this Green Galaxy Smoothie Bowl as much as the original!

- Enjoy immediately!
Notes
Adapted from my Blue Galaxy Bowl
To steam zucchini, slice into thick 1″ rounds and place in boiling water (or in a steamer basket) on the stovetop and cook for 3-4 minutes, until fork tender. Drain the zucchini, allow to cool, then place the rounds in a ziplock bag and freeze overnight before adding to this recipe. To prevent zucchini rounds from sticking together in the bag, allow them to dry completely before freezing. (I often skip this step out of laziness and I find it’s not so awful breaking them apart out of the freezer!)

Can I sub zucchini with another veggie?
Flora&Viino
Hi! Yes, try subbing zucchini with steamed and frozen cauliflower instead!
Flora&Viino
Hi, friend! Yes, try subbing cauliflower or broccoli stems for the same result! Let me know how it works out!
