My Go-To Green Smoothie made with frozen berries, a handful of spinach, and a spoonful of SunButter. Perfect for a quick breakfast or snack!
I’m baaaaaaack!
Hi friends, I’m finally home and super excited to get back to recipe creation.
On the flight home, I kept myself busy making a giant handwritten list (I’m old school) of all of the recipes I want to make for me and for you this year.
And while I’m itching to get the creative juices flowing, I’m also equally interested in getting back to the basics.
That means making simple meals that focus on protein and greens while tasting delicious.
…Did I mention protein and greens?
These two things were tricky for me living a vegan lifestyle on the go in Iceland.
So, what better way to kick off 2024 than with my Go To Green Smoothie?!
This smoothie is one that I keep coming back to over the years.
You might have made a variation of it at some point, but I’m convinced my variation might be the best.
This Go To Green Smoothie is perfect for a quick blended breakfast or snack.
I love to make it in less than 5 minutes with frozen berries, a handful of spinach, and a big spoonful of SunButter.
Bookmark this and come back to it whenever you need a reset, energy boost, or nutrient dense breakfast or snack!
What You Need to Make My Go-To Smoothie
Here’s what you need to make my Go-To Green Smoothie:
- unsweetened almond milk
- vanilla protein powder
- frozen blueberries
- No Sugar Added SunButter
- spinach or kale
That’s it!
How to Make My Go-To Green Smoothie
This recipe is super easy to make in under 5 minutes with a blender.
In a high speed blender, add the almond milk, protein powder, frozen banana, frozen berries, No Sugar Added SunButter, and spinach.
Adding SunButter to this recipe is a *must* because it makes it super creamy with the added benefit of healthy fats and protein!
Process everything until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Adjust the consistency as needed.
You can add a splash of almond milk to reach a thinner consistency or a few more frozen blueberries for a thicker consistency.
Add more greens if you feel like it, too!
Toppings for My Go-To Green Smoothie
Now it’s time to enjoy your shake.
If you’re like me, no smoothie is complete without some toppings.
Pour the blender contents into a large mason jar, then enjoy the mixture topped with fresh blueberries and granola.
No toppings are off limits here, so add whatever sounds good to you!
Some other ideas are more No Sugar Added SunButter drizzle, nuts, seeds, or cacao nibs.
Notes on Meal Prep
The only meal prep required to make My Go-To Green Smoothie is to ensure that you have frozen produce.
You can also freeze the spinach, too, for a colder shake, but this isn’t required.
Swaps & Substitutions
I love enjoying My Go-To Green Smoothie after a workout or as a quick mid-morning snack.
It’s particularly delicious after a vacation or holiday when you might have been a bit deprived of greens.
For sweeter shakes, try adding a bit of frozen banana or a date.
You can also mix up the berries by adding a blend of strawberries and blueberries or adding just strawberries.
It’s important to know that the color of your green shake will vary based on the berries and amount of greens that you use!
Enjoy!
