Easy overnight oats made with fresh squeezed orange, almond milk yogurt, and tart dried cranberries. Perfect to meal prep for breakfast on the go!
In Germany, we sat around the kitchen table in the morning, watching the Coffee Siphon brew coffee from one chamber to the next, like an hourglass where time runs both ways.
We sipped on dark roast brew and chatted in Hemingway-style sentences until the caffeine started to kick in.
When my tiny coffee mug was empty (mugs are much smaller, in Germany!) I stood and stretched and announced it was time to start the day.
After returning from my holiday in Germany I’m working on revamping my morning routine.
II miss my coffee companions abroad, but also am enjoying setting up some structure for 2022.
This year, I started setting my alarm earlier so I have time to meditate and start the day with stillness.
Meditation is a habit I started in Germany, silently sitting cross-legged on my travel yoga mat, bathed in sunshine from the winter garden.
The same reliable players are always on my morning menu, too; movement, water, gratitude, journaling, and, of course, coffee.
And now, let’s add in Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats!
These overnight oats celebrate citrus season with fresh squeezed orange paired with creamy yogurt and tart cranberries.
They’re perfect to meal prep quickly for busy mornings this winter!
Overnight Oats Inspired by Cookies
These overnight oats are inspired by orange cranberry cookies from the holiday season.
They’re sweet, tart, and creamy, while being packed with antioxidants, protein, fiber, and Vitamin C!
Did you know that the first breakfast I made upon my return from Europe was oats?
I actually didn’t have oats once while away, so I think I was craving them.
It also helped that I had a bag of oats and an unopened container of plant milk in the fridge, so it was equal parts comforting and convenient.
Whether you’ve been a world traveller recently or a home body, I bet you’ve got the ingredients to make these easy oats, too.
Let’s see.
What You Need to Make Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats
Here’s what you need:
- Eden Foods Organic Oat Flakes
- chia seeds
- plant-based protein powder (optional)
- Eden Foods Unsweetened Organic EdenSoy
- orange juice
- unsweetened almond milk yogurt
- orange zest
- pure maple syrup
- Eden Foods Organic Dried Cranberries
That’s it!
You can use fresh squeezed orange juice or store bought orange juice in this recipe.
I usually like using fresh squeezed orange since you’ll need some of the orange zest, too.
Adding protein powder is totally optional, however, I love adding a spoonful of vanilla protein powder to mine for a bit of extra plant-based protein!
If you don’t have almond milk yogurt, sub your favorite unsweetened plant based yogurt instead.
I recommend going light on the maple syrup initially and then adding more as needed after taste testing and before serving!
How to Make Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats
These Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats are oh so easy to make.
This recipe serves two, so select two jars to store in the fridge (I love using glass mason jars or small Pyrex containers)!
Divide all of the ingredients between the two mason jars and stir to combine.
Alternatively, you can mix everything in one portion and divide after the oats are plump and set.
It’s up to you!
I recommend adding in the citrus juice and zest *last* to avoid any coagulation of the soy milk.
We want these ONOs to be super creamy!
Place the jars in the refrigerator overnight or for at least 3-4 hours.
Eden Foods Products I Used
I used Eden Foods Organic Oat Flakes for the base of this recipe.
These organic oat flakes are roasted and then rolled into beautiful flakes that are ready for anything!
I love having them on hand for breakfast, no-baking, and baked goods.
Then we add Eden Foods Unsweetened Organic EdenSoy
This soy milk is wonderful because it’s made with only purified water and organic soybeans!
It has 12 grams of protein per an 8 oz. serving and is also gluten-free and dairy-free with no-added-sugar and no-added-oil.
It has a neutral flavor that is the perfect base to your overnight oats game!
Finally, I used Eden Foods Organic Dried Cranberries to accent the orange in this recipe.
These cranberries are my favorite because they’re perfectly tart and naturally sweetened with organic apple juice concentrate and nothing else.
I recommend adding them to trail mix, baked goods, energy balls, and, of course, oatmeal!
How to Meal Prep Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats
In the morning (or 3-4 hours later) taste the Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats and add a drizzle of more maple syrup for sweetness, if needed.
You can enjoy the overnight oats straight from their prepped container, or, if you’re feeling fancy, throw them in a bowl for serving.
For toppings, I love adding a bit more orange zest, more Eden Foods Organic Dried Cranberries, and a spoonful of your favorite granola.
Feel free to add any toppings you’d like.
Some other ideas are unsweetened shredded coconut, crushed nuts and seeds, fresh berries, and nut butter.
Store your overnight oats in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
How to Serve Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats
Try out these Orange Cranberry Overnight Oats as a super simple morning breakfast.
No fancy ingredients and no fancy techniques.
I love to double or triple the recipe and prep them in multiple mason jars for quick breakfasts.
These overnight oats can be served warm, too!
Simply heat the oats in a microwave safe bowl for 30-60 seconds until warm and serve with optional toppings.
Alternatively, you can warm everything on the stovetop, too.
Enjoy!

Cindy
Believe it or not this was my first time trying overnight oats. I was getting into a cooked oatmeal/ fruit rut. This was so tasty and fresh with the orange juice and zest. I think this would be a great breakfast in the summer however, I totally enjoyed it today on this cold winter morning. Adding this recipe into my morning routine.
