Anti-inflammatory shake made with frozen banana, pineapple, turmeric, and a tahini twist. Perfect for a post-workout shake or quick and bright breakfast!
Yesterday I had my first “real” shopping experience since before quarantine where I returned stuff I’d been holding onto over the past few months.
The items in question hung from sloppy shopping bags on my coat rack casting shadows that loomed large after the sun went down.
A pair of Madewell shorts and romper that didn’t quite fit right, hiking gear from REI, and a trashcan from Target.
Cool stuff, bro.
Anyway, navigating the stores amidst and pandemic was a lot easier than I expected.
Mask, hand sanitizer, receipts, merchandise, check, check, check.
I even tried on new climbing shoes at REI, balancing my toe tips on the edge of the shelving to ensure a proper fit.
And I bought toothpaste at Target– in real life.
Woah.
It was strange and surreal to navigate town centers and shops in a totally normal but totally changed way.
And it made me miss all of the times I had returned items in the past, grumbling and impatient at the inconvenience.
Because to be honest, my return item spree is the most excitement my wallet and I have seen in quite some time.
Well, aside from this Pineapple Turmeric Tahini Shake.
It’s bright, cheery, and sweet while being packed with anti-inflammatory foods and an optional boost of protein!
Grab Your Blender
True story: I dusted off my blender to make this shake.
I find it strange that it’s summer but for whatever reason I stopped making shakes sometime around my birthday (in April!).
To be honest, I stopped doing a *lot* of things in May, when the world started to feel too heavy to clean my Vitamix.
Let’s try to get back on track because it’s almost September and September is all about recharging and renewal.
Maybe your blender is in full summer mode, or maybe you, too, need to bust it out to blend this one up.
Either way, get it out and get it ready for the tropics plus tahini.
What You Need to Make Pineapple Turmeric Tahini Shakes
This shake is sunny, bright, and fruit.
Here’s what you need:
- frozen banana
- frozen pineapple
- unsweetened almond milk
- ground turmeric
- tahini
- vanilla protein powder (optional)
- Bare Snacks pineapple chips, for serving
That’s it!
How to Make Pineapple Turmeric Tahini Shakes
The method here is simple– add all of the ingredients to a blender and process until the consistency is smooth and creamy.
I recommend adding the turmeric powder before the liquids and frozen fruit to ensure it doesn’t flip all over the blender bucket.
If you’re avoiding bananas and/or looking for a lower sugar option, try subbing cauliflower or another steamed and frozen vegetable in its place.
However, the
The Flavors
The flavor combos here are on point.
(Do people still say that?)
Sweet banana and pineapple paired with warming turmeric and tangy tahini.
It’s the perfect late summer drink to transition into fall; full of fruity flair with a hint of warm spice.
The tahini and almond milk adds creaminess and healthy fats, making the shake smooth and thick and slurpable.
Mmm.
Add Pineapple Chips
Now top that vibrant orange drink with some fruity crunch.
I love Bare Snacks pineapple chips because they are:
- gluten-free
- fat-free
- oil-free
- preservative-free
- baked, not fried!
- perfectly crunchy
- refined-sugar-free
They’re the perfect fruity and crunchy topping to this drink!
How to Serve Pineapple Turmeric Tahini Shakes
Enjoy these Pineapple Turmeric Tahini Shakes as a bright and nutritious breakfast or quick snack.
Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder for extra power, or leave it as is for an equally nutrient-rich drink.
I love to blend one up post morning workout to refuel and recharge.
The recipe below serves two, but it can easily be halved for a solo serving or doubles to serve more!
Try topping yours smoothie with my favorite no-sugar-added pineapple chips.
Enjoy!

Very well explained. Turmeric is widely used in Ayurveda (Ancient Indian Medication). I love your Pineapple Turmeric Tahini Shake. I really feel like it makes a difference in the way I feel. I learned about turmeric from iahas.com and since then I am a big fan of this spice. I have tried a couple of tea and milk using turmeric. It tastes good actually. I will add your blog to my list.
