Upgrade your avocado toast with the addition of fresh sliced strawberries and a sprinkle of hemp hearts. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick snack.

Strawberry Hemp Heart Avocado Toast by Flora & Vino

Remember when avocado toast used to be so edgy and avant-garde?

“You mean you’re smashing avocado…on toasted bread?” *incredulous stare*

Now it seems like every hip restaurant has a version of “avocado toast” on the menu, just to prove their currency.

Yesterday, at the airport, pouring over the pre-packaged foods for something, anything I could grab for the five hour plane ride, I saw pre-packaged “Avocado Toasts”.

It was essentially a handful of half-crumbled crackers and suspicious-looking smashed avocado, but still.

We can now eat avocado toast up in the air, guys.

Whether you’ve been on the avocado toast train a while or are just getting on board, I think you’re going to love these Strawberry Hemp Heart Avocado Toast.

Avocado and fresh berries smashed together on your favorite toast-y bread is basic in the absolute BEST way.

Strawberry Hemp Heart Avocado Toast by Flora & Vino I’m writing you this post from California, where I’m hanging out for the next few days to attend Nat Products Expo West.

If I’m being honest, it was hard to extricate myself from the daily grind back at home, but I’m glad temporarily live with a change of pace and scenery.

So, since I’m off sampling all of the latest brands and foodie trends, I’m going to leave you with a sampler of your own.

I thought I could take this opportunity to share with you one of my all-time favorite recipes, a classic that I keep coming back to no matter the season.

It’s so good, in fact, that I recall driving all the way home from work during a slow morning at the office, just to toast one up and devour on the ride back.

Priorities.

Strawberry Hemp Heart Avocado Toast by Flora & Vino

This toast looks modest and then you take a bite and realize it’s a total DIVA.

We start with toast-y seeded bread topped with my favorite smashed healthy fats and bursting ripe berries.

Add a sprinkle of hemp hearts for extra seed-y protein and nutty flavor.

If you’re feeling extra sweet, add a drizzle of maple syrup or honey to enhance the sweetness of the berries.

I like the firm texture of strawberries here for this toast, but variations are welcome, too!

If you don’t have strawberries on hand, try making this recipe with your favorite berry instead.

Raspberries or blueberries would be great here, too.

Strawberry Hemp Heart Avocado Toast by Flora & Vino

Whip up these Strawberry Hemp Heart Avocado Toasts for an easy breakfast, brunch, or snack.

In just 5 minutes you have a meal out of your toaster that feels restaurant worthy.

They’re ideal for spring and summer months when fresh berries are in season, but you can enjoy it all year round!

I love mine with some torn basil on top to contrast with the fresh berries and creamy avocado.

You can also top your toast with another slice of toasted bread to create a sandwich!

Enjoy!

Loved it! Never would have thought to combine strawberries with avocado but it was an excellent combination. I used lime juice instead of lemon and didn’t have hemp seeds but it was still delicious!

I started teaching yoga again this spring. In the I started teaching yoga again this spring. In the midst of cookbook edits and stunning spring weather, I felt called to unfurl my Manduka mat and talk my friends and family through a feel-good flow.
-
At first, I felt rusty; stumbling through cues and postures. What’s that pose, again? What’s that body part? I forgot options; I forgot pacing, I forgot to balance active poses with rejuvenating rest.
-
But I’m starting to get it back. The confidence that comes with repetition. The joy that comes from seeing a student let go, watching tangible tension melt away; I’m an audience to mindfulness.
-
I wanted to become a yoga teacher because it felt like the single greatest gift I could give to another human being. Maybe that’s because it’s one of the greatest gift that I give to myself.
-
As I get back into teaching, I’m reminded that crafting yoga classes is a beautiful, delicate artform. One that I’m excited and eager to get better at.
-
I teach vinyasa yoga—A creative flow. I’m currently working on theming my classes—conveying a subtle suggested message through movement, music, and words.
-
Last Friday I taught my book club and I spent hours working on the soundtrack and the sequence. I shifted around openings and contractions, counted things in threes, and shuffled songs in a clear crescendo towards peak posture, softening into savasana.
-
It reminded me of the English classes I took in high school. We tirelessly underlined paperback books, searching for themes, motifs, and expressive language with a pink highlighter and red ballpoint pen.
-
Writing a yoga sequence is kind of like that, but in reverse. This time I’m the author, the creator, the conductor, sprinkling in symbols and allusion and foreshadowing to guide towards the truest version of you.
-
I strive to talk through the poses with expressive language and concise cues. Watching for reactions, feeling what the collective is feeling, working with them to achieve a union of mind, body, and spirit.
-
That’s yoga.
-
What makes a *good* yoga class for you? Please comment and share! I’m hoping to open up classes to my community eventually. 😘
