Tahini Chocolate Chip Bliss Balls that taste like an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie in energy ball form! Perfect for a meal prep snack.
Last week I wore shorts outside on a warmer day for the first time this season.
As is annually customary, I felt naked pretty much the entire walk.
I kept a good pace so as not to blind neighbors with my ghostly legs and managed to stress-walk the 30 minute walk in about 20.
Since it’s warming up, I’ve stopped baking as much and am focusing more on hand-mix snacks and bites.
These Tahini Chocolate Chip Bliss Balls are my favorite fuel right now.
They taste like an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie in energy ball form!
If you’ve been here a while, you know that I’m tahini obsessed.
When I realized I didn’t have a bliss ball made with tahini, I was disappointed in myself.
So, please enjoy this post and consider its deliciousness as an apology for keeping you waiting for so long!
What You Need to Make Tahini Chocolate Chip Bliss Balls
These bliss balls are really easy to mix up without any equipment or fancy ingredients!
Here’s what you need:
- tahini
- maple syrup
- Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Organic Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
- ground flaxseed
- chia seeds
- dark chocolate chips
That’s it!
How to Make Tahini Chocolate Chip Bliss Balls
In a large mixing bowl, add the tahini, maple syrup, oats, ground flaxseed, and chia seeds.
Mix everything until the ingredients are well-combined.
If the mixture is too dry and crumbly, add more tahini and/or maple syrup.
If the mixture is too sticky or wet, add a bit more oats or ground flaxseed.
Transfer the bowl to the refrigerator for 5 to 15 minutes to slightly chill and firm up.
Remove the bowl from the refrigerator and scoop the dough into ~1 tablespoon increments with a cookie dough scoop.
Roll the dough into balls with your hands.
The dough should make about 14-16 balls.
If the mixture sticks to your hands, try slightly wetting them with filtered water before rolling.
Enjoy the balls immediately!
The Best Oats
I used Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Organic Old Fashioned Rolled Oats as the main hero of this recipe.
When I was cleaning out my pantry for the minimalist challenge this month, I was impressed by how many bags of these oats I have stuffed away.
I love that these oats are certified organic and gluten-free with the best hearty flavor and texture.
You’re going to love them in these Tahini Chocolate Chip Bliss Balls!
They’re chewy, hearty, and delicious.
I love that they are both Organic and certified Gluten Free!
Swaps and Substitutions
I love the flavor of tahini in these bliss balls, however, there are alternatives if you don’t have tahini or don’t like it as much as I do.
Sub any nut or seed butter in place of tahini for a similar bliss ball experience.
I think cashew butter, almond butter, or sunflower seed butter would be an excellent alternative.
You can leave the chocolate chips out of this recipe if you’d like, or, sub them with cacao nibs or dried fruit.
The seeds are important to this recipe and can’t be replaced because they help the balls stick together.
Notes on Meal Prep
These balls are perfect to make in advance for a meal prep snack for the week!
I love to mix up a batch on Sunday or Monday and enjoy these balls for a quick mid-morning or afternoon snack.
The balls are totally fine at room temperature for a day or two, so feel free to make them for road trips, vacations, and camping.
They’re the perfect protein-packed bridge to get you between meals!
I love that they’re also high in fiber with the addition of healthy fats to keep you satiated.
Store the leftover balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Enjoy!
