Vegan brownie batter dip made with Chocolate SunButter and chickpeas. Serve with a spoon or as dip for fresh fruit, chips, or pretzels.
Are you a planner?
If you’ve been around here a while, you probably know that I am the plannerly-est of planners.
I’ve always gotten heart eyes over bulleted checklists, scrawling grocery lists, and color-coded calendars.
But lately my spreadsheets and planners and journals have been a bit out of control.
If I spend all of my time planning, I’ll never actually get to the *plan*, you know?
M is much more intuitive and fluid in his scheduling and actions.
It always amazes me how he can wake up and *not know* what’s going to happen; to do what feels good and not what a TO-DO list says TO DO.
The concept baffles me.
So I’m working on being a little less rigid in my expectations in myself, my day, and my time.
Luckily, this Vegan Brownie Batter Dip doesn’t require much planning.
In fact, I feel safe betting that you have most of the ingredients in your pantry already.
What do you wager?
I’ve had Brownie Batter Dip on my recipe spreadsheet for AGES.
I definitely didn’t invent the concept.
I’ve seen many renditions online before made with different ingredients as base.
But the general idea is the same; make a gooey drool-worthy dip that tastes like brownies, without all of the bake time.
Basically, it’s the brownie batter you licked from the hand mixers your mom set aside when you were young.
Made edible, vegan, refined-sugar-free, and packed with plant-based protein.
What You Need to Make Vegan Brownie Batter Dip
You need:
- chickpeas
- cacao powder
- Chocolate SunButter
- pure maple syrup
- unsweetened almond milk
That’s it!
I wanted my base to be made with legumes so this Brownie Batter Dip can double as a delicious snack or dessert packed with protein and fiber!
I used a can of chickpeas in this recipe, but I think black beans or any mild white bean would work well, too.
How to Make Vegan Brownie Batter Dip
This brownie batter dip doesn’t require anything fancy!
Simply dump all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender or food processor and blend until it’s well-combined and super creamy.
You might need to scrape down the sides as needed to recombine everything.
During this time, you can add another splash of almond milk to get the blender blades moving.
Add more almond milk if you’d like a thinner runnier consistency to your brownie batter dip and less almond milk for thicker dip!
I found that I preferred my brownie batter dip to be thicker-; a bit like the consistency of hummus.
The Secret Ingredient: Chocolate SunButter
This brownie batter dip gets its creaminess and rich brownie flavor from the addition of Chocolate SunButter!
This scrumptious blend of roasted sunflower seeds and cacao is absolutely amazing.
It’s only got 5 grams of sugar per serving and packs in 6 grams of plant-based protein!
While this stuff is delicious as dip or frosting by itself, it’s also perfect in this brownie batter.
It really enhances the favor of this dip with notes of vanilla, sea salt, cacao powder, and subtle nuttiness.
The healthy fats in this seed butter make this dip creamy without any added oils!
You Can Adjust the Sweetness
After the dip is a consistency you can’t live without, taste it for sweetness.
I lightly sweetened the dip with pure maple syrup.
Because the Chocolate SunButter is already a bit sweet, you don’t need to add a ton of sweetener here.
I left a range on the recipe so you can adjust the dip to your preferred sweetness!
Add more maple syrup as needed in small increments until your taste buds sing.
Top with Dark Chocolate Chips
You’re almost ready to face plant into brownie batter dip heaven!
Finally, transfer the blender contents to a serving bowl and sprinkle it with dark chocolate chips.
This is optional but totally recommended.
I recommend a dark chocolate that is 70% cacao or higher, if possible!
Serve the dip immediately with fresh fruit, chips, or crackers.
How to Serve Vegan Brownie Batter Dip
Enjoy this Vegan Brownie Batter Dip as a deliciously sweet snack or healthy dessert.
You can serve the dip in a big bowl as an appetizer or dessert to share.
Try dividing the dip into mini meal prep containers for brownie batter dip cups for the week!
Leftovers will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
And, don’t feel like you *need* a vehicle for brownie batter dip consumption.
This is the kind of dip that is just as good eaten with a spoon as it is eaten with something else!
Enjoy!

This sounds great! I assume you mean 1/4 cup raw cacao powder.
