Easy vegan chocolate truffles made with orange dark chocolate, coconut milk, and fresh orange juice and zest. Perfect for a chocolate-y citrus treat!
This past weekend I found a local nursery that sold seasonal plants and produce.
I texted M a string of happy emoticons because I was in my happy place.
There was a sweet corner of succulents where I picked three new additions to the plant family.
I also thought, well, what the heck, and bought two pumpkins for carving.
There’s something about the fall harvest that makes me want to wrap myself in green.
Maybe because I know everything is about to turn golden, orange, and maroon.
So, I have an orange recipe for you today that *isn’t* pumpkin!
These Vegan Orange Chocolate Truffles are sure to pick you in the October mood.
Let’s make orange chocolate truffles with orange dark chocolate, coconut milk, and fresh orange juice and zest.
What You Need to Make Vegan Orange Chocolate Truffles
Here’s what you need:
- Hu Kitchen Cashew Butter + Orange Vanilla Dark Chocolate Bars
- coconut milk lite
- orange juice
- orange zest
That’s it!
The Best Chocolate
I used Hu Kitchen Cashew Butter + Orange Vanilla Dark Chocolate Bars to create this recipe.
If you’ve ever asked yourself if chocolate and orange *really* go together, then you need to try these bars.
This chocolate is simply fantastic; made entirely vegan, gluten-free, and refined-sugar-free without any weird ingredients or emulsifiers.
The addition of orange oil gives them a hint of citrus flavor that compliments the chocolate!
It’s perfect to support the orange chocolate flavoring in these truffles!
This recipe call for 5 Cashew Butter + Orange Vanilla Dark Chocolate Bars.
I like to break the bars into squares before incorporating into the recipe!
How to Make Vegan Orange Chocolate Truffles
First, place the finely chopped chocolate in a medium-sized heat-safe mixing bowl.
Heat the coconut milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until it starts to simmer.
Immediately add coconut milk to the chocolate bowl and cover it to trap all of that delicious heat inside.
Allow the chocolate to melt completely for about five minutes, then uncover it and use a mixing spoon to gently stir.
Continue stirring everything until it’s completely melted, creamy, and smooth.
If you have some unmelted pieces left, that’s OK!
Pop the mixture in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to encourage more melting.
Once everything is completely melted, stir in the orange juice and orange zest.
Set the mixture in the refrigerator to chill uncovered for 2-3 hours, or until almost completely solid.
Use a cookie scoop, scoop out ~1 Tablespoon balls of the chilled mixture then use your hands to roll the chocolate into balls.
If the truffle dough sticks to your hands, try wetting your hands with a splash of water before rolling out the balls.
There should be about 12- 16 truffles, depending on how large you make them.
Add Toppings
Finally, roll the ball in finely chopped chocolate and an optional sprinkle of orange zest.
Some other ideas are the roll them in cacao nibs, raw cacao powder, or unsweetened shredded coconut.
You can also leave them as is and enjoy them deliciously plain!
Notes on Meal Prep
Enjoy the truffles immediately, or refrigerate them for another 1-2 hours to continue to firm up.
Store the truffles covered in the refrigerator for up to one week and freeze for long term storage.
I recommend letting the truffles sit outside of the fridge for 10-15 minutes before serving for the best taste and consistency!
How to Serve Vegan Orange Chocolate Truffles
Enjoy these Vegan Orange Chocolate Truffles anytime you feel like trufflin’.
They’re perfect to mix up for a quick dessert and store in the refrigerator for later (or now).
The recipe is so easy to make vegan, gluten-free, and refined-sugar-free with just four ingredients!
Make them for entertaining, gifting, or just anytime you’re craving a burst of orange and chocolate.
Enjoy!

- Roll the truffles in chopped chocolate and sprinkle with a bit of orange zest, if desired. You can also skip this step and leave the truffles plain.
- Enjoy truffles immediately, or refrigerate for 1-2 hours to continue to firm up.

These were incredibly easy to make and so delicious!! They are definitely very fudge-y at room temperature, but if you prefer them a bit more firm, pop them in the fridge!! Hiding them in the fridge also helps w self control so you won’t eat them all at once!!

Hi Connie,
Thanks so much for the review! Yes, the fridge and freezer makes a difference in texture. And is a good hiding place!
