Description

Easy oven-baked tofu fries perfect for a protein packed snack or side. Meal prep them in advance to add protein to workweek meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz. block of tofu, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tsp dried basil (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Himalayan sea salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 °F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Drain and rinse the block of tofu and do a quick 30 minute press if you have time. Wrap the block of tofu in a towel and set something heavy on top to release some of the moisture.
  3. Unwrap the tofu slab and slice it into 1″ fries. Fries will shrink in the oven, so don’t make them too thin or they risk burning. Arrange the “fries” on the lined baking sheet and season them with basil, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
  4. Bake the fries in the oven for 20-30 minutes, flipping them once halfway to ensure even baking. For crispier fries, leave in the oven until they are golden brown and very firm. For more tender fries, remove from the oven when lightly brown and tender.
  5. Serve the fries hot with dip of choice or as the topper to your plant-based plate.
  6. Store leftover fries in the refrigerator for up to one week and reheat before serving.
