Description

Decadent dark chocolate brownies with black sesame butter. Sweetened with unrefined coconut sugar and frosted with an oil-free black sesame cacao frosting.

Ingredients

Black Sesame Butter Brownies

  • 1/2 heaping cup Eden Foods Black Sesame Butter (or sub regular tahini)
  • 1 cup unrefined coconut sugar (use 3/4 cup if you like darker chocolate!)
  • 1 1/4 cup oat flour (or sub another gluten-free flour of choice with varied results)
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

Black Sesame Butter Frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a square 8 x 8 pan with parchment paper.
  2. Add all of the ingredients to a large mixing bowl and mix with a fork until the batter is well combined. The finished product should be thick and moist, not dry and crumbling. If your dough is dry, add 1-2 Tablespoons more almond milk or black sesame butter and recombine. Start with 1 Tablespoon and add more if needed.
  3. Spoon the dough into the parchment lined pan and smooth it into an even layer with your hands or a spatula.
  4. Bake the pan for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges start to pull from the pan and the surface starts to split and brown.
  5. Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely before frosting.
  6. While the brownies are cooling, create your frosting (optional) by whisking together the maple syrup, raw cacao powder, and black sesame butter until smooth.
  7. Once the brownies have cooled, frost them with a thin layer of the black sesame cacao frosting and cut them into squares. Store any leftover brownies in the refrigerator for 5-7 days and freeze for longterm storage.
