My Top Plant-Based & Gluten-Free Pantry Staples

Here are my go-to plant-based staples I always have in my pantry, fridge, and freezer with my favorite brand recommendations! Happy grocery shopping!

Hi, friends!

This is a post I’ve been meaning to share for a while now, so what better time than the present, when we’re all taking stock of our pantry and freezer storage?

Below, you can find my top plant-based & gluten-free pantry staples.

I sorted them into some makeshift categories to make them a little easier and more approachable.

You won’t find fresh fruits and vegetables in this listing, because I find what I buy depends on seasonality and availability as well as what recipes I’m creating!

However, this is a concise list of all of the items I try to always keep in stock that serve as the building blocks to great vegan and gluten-free plant-based meals.

I’ve also listed below many of my favorite brands to give you some guidelines, but feel free to explore what’s out there and pick your own favorites!

FROZEN FOODS:

  • Hilary’s Eat Well Meatless Veggie Burgers 
  • Cascadian Farms Cauliflower Rice Blends

  • organic frozen fruit

BEANS/GRAINS:

  • legume-based pasta (check out Chickapea Pasta and Tolerant Foods)
  • quinoa
  • brown rice
  • gluten-free old-fashioned rolled oats

PLANT-BASED PROTEIN:

  • plant-based protein powder (I use Aloha and Tone It Up)
  • organic extra-firm tofu
  • tempeh

NUTS/SEEDS/DRIED FRUIT:

  • medjool dates
  • hemp hearts
  • chia seeds
  • dried fruit (I love Fruit Bliss!)
  • unsalted sprouted nuts (Try Blue Mountain Organics)
  • flaxseed meal
  • unsweetened shredded coconut

BAKING:

  • aluminum-free baking powder
  • Superfine Almond Flour
  • Gluten-Free Oat Flour
  • unrefined coconut sugar
  • raw cacao powder
  • dairy-free dark chocolate chips
  • silan(date syrup)

PANTRY:

  • lemon juice
  • lime juice
  • avocado oil
  • no-sugar-added pasta sauce (My favorite is Cucina Antica)
  • jarred tomatoes, diced and crushed (my favorite is Jovial)
  • vegetable broth (get one without added sugars and with natural flavors like Pacific Foods Organic Veggie Broth)
  • canned, jarred, or boxed beans (I get the boxed kind from Whole Foods or cans byEden Foods)
  • canned coconut milk(I like to have the original AND the light on hand)
  • sauerkraut
  • pure maple syrup 
  • apple cider vinegar
  • balsamic vinegar
  • green and black olives
  • tomato paste
  • curry paste
  • favorite spices
  • Tandoori Masala seasoning—it’s amazing!!!
  • dried herbs
  • canned pumpkin
  • unsweetened apple sauce

SNACKS:

  • Simple Mills Crackers
  • granola (I love KitchFix Grain-Free Granola, Purely Elizabeth Granola, Wildway Grain-Free Granola, and Grandy Oats Granola)
  • Rise Bars (Use “FLORA25” to get 25% off!)
  • Evo Hemp Fruit & Nut Bars (Use “FLORA20” for 20% off!)
  • Bare Snacks Baked Fruit Chips
  • Bare Snacks Baked Veggie Chips
  • BRAMI Lupini Bean Snacks
  • rice cakes (I love these stackers from Lundberg Farms)

DAIRY SUBSTITUTES:

  • dairy-free yogurt (Lavvais my favorite)
  • Treeline Treenut Artisan Nut Cheese
  • unsweetened almond milk (Malkis the best!)

CONDIMENTS/SPREADS:

  • tahini (I prefer a runnier tahini like Soom Foodsor Eden Foods)
  • peanut butter or any nut butter (I love Crazy Richards, Georgia Grinders, and Artisana Organics)
  • SunButter
  • hummus (oil-free, if possible! I love Cava organic hummus!)
  • salsa (Toigo Farms is my favorite ever!)
  • mustard

DRINKS: 

  • Health-Ade Kombucha
  • low-sugar green juice (Garden of Flavor Mean Greensis the best)

JUST ‘CAUSE:

  • red wine
  • Hu Kitchen Dark Chocolate
  • Lesser Evil Popcorn
  • Hail Merrytreats

#ad// {NEW!} When everything else feels hard, this #ad// {NEW!} When everything else feels hard, this Thai Carrot Sweet Potato Soup feels easy. 🥕🍠🥣 It also tastes amazing and every warm spoonful is like a comforting embrace. This Thai Carrot Sweet Potato Soup is made on the stovetop with root vegetables and yellow curry paste blended with a spoonful of nut butter. I used a standing blender but you can also use an immersion blender to achieve the creamiest consistency.

I love topping my soup with cilantro, @edenfoods Tamari Roasted Almonds, and @edenfoods Hot Pepper Sesame Oil. 

@edenfoods Tamari Roasted Almonds are infrared roasted organic almonds with complimentary organic tamari soy sauce. They’re a delicious snack packed with protein and fiber. You can enjoy them on their own, added to trail mix, on salads and bowls, or…on soup! 
 
@edenfoods Hot Pepper Sesame Oil is a delicious unrefined expeller pressed toasted sesame oil that is infused with hot red chili peppers. Friends, this stuff is HOT! Just a *drop* adds a big kick to your dressings, marinades, stir-fries, etc. If you have a wild side, add a drop or two to your soup bowl for a little extra heat! 

Feel free to add your favorites, like roasted chickpeas, green onion, and sesame seeds.

M and I have plans to visit True Food Kitchen this M and I have plans to visit True Food Kitchen this week for V-Day and it reminded me of this Harissa Toasted Cauliflower I made inspired by their menu item. Whether you love TFK as much as I do, you’re going to be obsessed with my version of this cauliflower! It’s baked and then coated in a tahini sauce and topped with fresh herbs, cranberries, and hazelnuts. Enjoy it as an appetizer or side! Cozy and delicious all year round.

My personal favorite vegan truffles are these Caca My personal favorite vegan truffles are these Cacao Dusted Dark Chocolate Truffles. 🍫 They’re *so* easy to make with dark chocolate, coconut milk, and a light cacao powder finish. Perfect for a simple decadent treat or to gift to someone special! 😉
