Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats made with pumpkin purée, natural peanut butter, and oat flour. An easy homemade fall treat for your pup!

Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats served in pumpkin bowl with pumpkin, peanut butter, oats, and cookie cutters with cookie sheet

When people ask what the most popular recipe on my website is, I give it to them straight.

I know they’re expecting me to say something with sweet potato, tahini, or maybe a veganized dessert.

“It’s actually a dog treat,” I say with a smirk, watching their confused faces.

Yes, my 3-Ingredient Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats has wildly surpassed all traffic for any “human specific” content.

And while these dog treats are also human-friendly, I think your pup might enjoy them a little more than you would.

I was so excited to introduce Flora to my most popular recipe; she definitely gave it a two paws up.

Because Flora, you, and your dogs loved these treats so much, I thought it was time to make a new variation.

While puppy training, we’re going through treats faster than the Amazon delivery truck can drop them off.

It’s hard to beat homemade treats for the simplest ingredients and the best price.

After reading that pumpkin is good for pups, I decided that these Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats would be perfect for fall.

Like my first treats, they’re easy to make with just three ingredients.

This is the perfect Halloween treat to share with your four legged friend!

What You Need to Make Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

You probably already have all of the ingredients for these dog treats in your pantry.

I did!

Here’s what you need:

  • gluten-free old-fashioned rolled oats
  • natural peanut butter
  • pumpkin purée

That’s it!

How to Make Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and pumpkin and mix everything with a spatula until it’s thick and well-mixed.

I find that super runny and creamy peanut butter is the best for this recipe.

Choose one that doesn’t have any added sugars, salt, or oils.

The only ingredient should be peanuts!

Process the oats in a blender until you have a fine flour.

Add the oat flour and mix again until the batter is thick and doughy.

If you find that the dough is super crumbly, add a spoonful more peanut butter and recombine everything.

You want the dough to be firm, sticky, and pliable.

Shapes for Homemade Dog Treats

Roll the dough into a thin slab (~1/4″ thick) on a large wooden cutting board lined with parchment paper on both sides.

Using cookie cutters, cut shapes out of the dough and place them on the parchment lined baking sheet.

Once you’ve cut out as many shapes as you can re-roll the dough and start again.

Repeat this until you run out of dough and all of the batter is in shapes!

If you don’t have cookie cutters or are short on time, you can roll the dough into ~1 Tablespoon balls and flatten with your hands.

This will create a simple circular cookie.

Baking Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Bake the Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats for ~15 minutes, or until they’re lightly brown underneath.

Allow the treats to cool for 10-15 minutes before sampling or sharing with your pup!

Store leftover dog treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks!

How to Serve Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

These Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats are the perfect clean dog treat to spoil your pup!

They’re ideal to make as a homemade gift to a dog-lover for a birthday or seasonal holiday.

If you want to make more dog treats, double the recipe.

I found that this recipe created about 50-ish small treats and 30 medium sized treats.

The number of treats yielded will depend on the size of the cookie cutters you use.

And these treats last a long time in the refrigerator!

I love to stash them in a ziplock bag and pull some out for indoor training sessions with Flora.

These cookies are also totally human-friendly if you’re looking for a lower sugar pumpkin peanut butter snack cookie.

That is, if you can convince your dog to share with you.

Enjoy!

#ad// {NEW!} When everything else feels hard, this #ad// {NEW!} When everything else feels hard, this Thai Carrot Sweet Potato Soup feels easy. 🥕🍠🥣 It also tastes amazing and every warm spoonful is like a comforting embrace. This Thai Carrot Sweet Potato Soup is made on the stovetop with root vegetables and yellow curry paste blended with a spoonful of nut butter. I used a standing blender but you can also use an immersion blender to achieve the creamiest consistency.

I love topping my soup with cilantro, @edenfoods Tamari Roasted Almonds, and @edenfoods Hot Pepper Sesame Oil.

@edenfoods Tamari Roasted Almonds are infrared roasted organic almonds with complimentary organic tamari soy sauce. They’re a delicious snack packed with protein and fiber. You can enjoy them on their own, added to trail mix, on salads and bowls, or…on soup!

@edenfoods Hot Pepper Sesame Oil is a delicious unrefined expeller pressed toasted sesame oil that is infused with hot red chili peppers. Friends, this stuff is HOT! Just a *drop* adds a big kick to your dressings, marinades, stir-fries, etc. If you have a wild side, add a drop or two to your soup bowl for a little extra heat!

Feel free to add your favorites, like roasted chickpeas, green onion, and sesame seeds.
