Chocolate tahini banana pops are the vegan treat you need this summer! Frozen bananas drizzled in tahini and chocolate and rolled in nuts.

Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops served on parchment lined baking sheet with tahini, melted chocolate, and fresh bananas on the side

I swear, something magical happens to bananas when they freeze.

If you’re joining in on my current banana craze, then you’re going to love this week’s recipe.

Did you eat Nestle’s Drumsticks growing up?

Because that’s what these Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops remind me of.

They sit somewhere deliciously between an ice cream cone, fudgsicle, and popsicle.

I took halved bananas, froze them, covered them in tahini and melted chocolate, then rolled them in nuts.

This frozen treat is perfect for a sweet snack or healthy dessert.

Ready to make some banana pops?!

This recipe is super versatile!

We start with frozen bananas, layer them in tahini and dark chocolate, then add on toppings.

Feel free to go wild with the toppings and add whatever sounds good to you.

I’m excited to share with you my favorite version.

What You Need to Make Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops

Here’s what you need:

  • bananas
  • Soom Foods Tahini
  • dark chocolate chips
  • chopped nuts (I like walnuts or pecans)

That’s it!

How to Choose Your Bananas

As previously stated, this recipe starts with bananas.

The trick to this recipe is using bananas of the optimal ripeness.

I like to use just-ripe bananas for this recipe.

So, bananas that are still firm and yellow but with no visible green tint.

Save the spotty soft brown bananas for baking; they’ll be too sweet and mushy for this recipe!

I like to use large bananas, if possible, so you have more surface area to work with when they’re halved.

Create the Popsicle Set Up

Now that you have some optimally ripe bananas, let’s get set up.

First, line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.

Insert a popsicle stick into each halved banana (into the cut side) and place them on the parchment lined baking sheet.

I used plastic popsicle handles for mine because I had them on hand, but a plain wooden popsicle stick works just fine.

My Favorite Tahini

Obviously, I had to include tahini in this recipe; Soom Foods Tahini, to be exact.

It’s no secret that I include tahini in everything, and it works beautifully in this recipe to slightly offset to sweetness of the bananas and chocolate.

Drizzle the tahini over 3/4 of the banana, working towards the popsicle base.

I like to roll the banana a bit to spread the tahini evenly so the surface is well-coated.

Remove any excess tahini from the sides, then transfer the sheet pan meal to the freezer while you prepare the melted chocolate.

How to Make Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops

While the banana is freezing, add the dark chocolate chips to a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.

Heat the chocolate chips until they’re completely melted, stirring frequently to prevent them from burning.

At this point, I recommend getting the chopped nuts prepped so they’re ready when the chocolate is melted.

Perfect Pops Don’t Exist

Remove the sheet pan from the freezer and drizzle the melted chocolate over the tahini layer on the bananas.

Again, you can roll the banana slightly to completely coat the banana in chocolate!

Don’t worry too much if the chocolate and tahini layers don’t completely match up or if you have some “bare” spots.

The banana pops will be perfection either way.

The Best Nuts

Immediately roll the chocolate covered banana in the crushed nuts.

I like to use pecans or walnuts for the nuts, but any nut or seed will work.

Make sure they’re chopped finely so they’re easy to roll out.

Transfer the sheet pan meal back to the freezer for 1-2 hours to allow the bananas to freeze and completely set.

How to Serve Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops

Enjoy these Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops as a fun summer snack or dessert.

They’re easy to make and even more fun to enjoy and eat.

They remind me of the top part of the drumsticks that I *loved* growing up as a kid.

Sweet frozen banana paired with creamy tahini, dark chocolate shell, and crunchy nuts is irresistible!

I love enjoying one as a treat after my morning run or as an afternoon pick-me-up.

And the toppings are totally customizable.

I loved mine with just crushed nuts, but anything sweet, crunchy, and/or salty works.

Try shredded coconut, crushed candy, hemp seeds, freeze-dried fruit, granola, or hemp seeds for some topping inspiration.

When the banana pops are totally frozen transfer them to an airtight freezer-safe container and store them in the freezer for up to one month.

Enjoy!
