Orange chocolate pretzel bark with Endangered Species Orange + Dark Chocolate and gluten-free pretzels. The perfect combo of salty and sweet!
Among other things, M has brought a love of pretzels back into my life.
While M likes his pretzels extra salt-y with savory dips, I like mine…with a little sweetness.
A few weeks ago, while polishing off a bag of pretzels, I paired a pretzel with a piece of dark chocolate.
The combination of bittersweet with crunchy salty pretzel was ridiculously good.
So I went back for another, and another.
Now, I know I’m not the first person to think of salty-sweet or even chocolate with pretzels, (hello chocolate covered pretzels!), but I hope you’ll indulge anyway.
I decided to infuse the chocolate and pretzels together in a 2-ingredient chocolate bark with an orange twist.
This Orange Chocolate Pretzel Bark combines salty and sweet with a hint of orange that is citrus-y sweet and salty perfection for spring!
What You Need to Make Orange Chocolate Pretzel Bark
This Orange Chocolate Pretzel Bark only have TWO ingredients!
- Endangered Species Orange + Dark Chocolate Bars
- gluten-free pretzels
That’s it!
If you’re not gluten-free, free to use any pretzel that makes you happiest.
How to Make Orange Chocolate Pretzel Bark
First, set up your space.
Line a small rectangular baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
I like to push the parchment paper up on the sides so that your dish will remain clean.
Break the Endangered Species Orange + Dark Chocolate Bars into chunks with your hands.
In a medium-sized saucepan, heat the chocolate chunks over low heat until they’re fully melted, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
Melt the Chocolate
When the chocolate is all melty, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chopped pretzels.
Stir until they’re totally coated in the dark chocolate.
Pour the chocolate mixture into the parchment lined pan and spread it into an even layer with the back of a spoon or a spatula.
Push the chocolate all the way to the edges and to the corners so you have a nice rectangular shape.
The chopped pretzels have a tendency to clump up, so try to evenly distribute them with a spoon.
Add the Pretzels
Top the bark with whole pretzels in a symmetric pattern.
This is the fun part, so get creative!
I placed mine in the dark chocolate in even rows, but you can make whatever pattern you’d like.
The recipe calls for ~1 cup of pretzels, but use as many as you need to get your desired effect.
Freezer Time
Transfer the pan to the freezer and freeze the chocolate for one hour, or until the chocolate is completely hardened.
If your freezer is jam-packed like mine is, you can also place the pan in the refrigerator to cool, but it’ll take a bit longer to harden.
The chocolate bark should be ready in about 10-15 minutes for the freezer and 20-30 minutes in the refrigerator!
Tips for Breaking Chocolate Pretzel Bark
When the bark is cooled and hardened, it’s time to break it into pieces!
Chop the pretzel bark into small pieces using a knife or, alternatively, break it into small chunks with your hands.
I liked symmetry in this recipe so I used a knife to chop my bark into small squares.
Aren’t they cute?!
Notes on Meal Prep
Enjoy the bark immediately as a sweet and salty treat with a citrus flair that you won’t be able to get enough of.
Store your leftover pretzel bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
You can also keep the bark in the freezer for long term storage!
