I’m not a huge dessert person.
I don’t often prep desserts to have around, because I’m much more likely to grab a sweet potato or fruit to cut my cravings.
I’m the kind of girl whose idea of dessert is haphazardly dunking dark chocolate chunks (the darker the better!) into tubs of nut butter when the mood strikes.
I know, I’m fancy.
But when I do DO dessert, I like to do it right! I set out to create something chocolatey that was allergen free, nutritious, and super tasty.
Now check out that epic No Sugar Added Black Bean Blender Brownie stack.
I’ve always had a soft spot for baking with legumes. I love the way they effortlessly give baked goods that ooey gooey slightly undercooked texture.
Not to mention that they’re an excellent source of protein added to your sweet treats.
If you’re a fan of baking with beans, too, check out my Spiced Chickpea Snookies, one of my favorite snacks slash desserts slash anything you want it to be.
This is where my desserts to be: in that wonderfully murky grey area when your brain can’t decide how to classify this amazing thing you’re consuming.
“Oh my god, it tastes so good, it’s dessert.”
“That nutritional information though…”
“You’re right, I could totally snack on these and get away with it…”
So friends, here are the deets.
These blender brownies are oil free, gluten free, and refined sugar free.
Sweetened with dried fruit and overripe bananas, made super moist with creamy walnut butter, and all brought together with protein and fiber rich black beans.
And I promise, you can’t taste beans one bit.
They come together really fast by quite literally throwing everything in a blender and pulsing it out.
The hardest part is spreading the batter out evenly in the pan, but it’s OK if you can’t get it perfect.
Pro tip: Just make sure you position yourself for those big pieces later, if you’re sharing.
Enjoy these brownies with a tall glass of nut milk with the pan nearby so you can snag easily snag seconds.
They’re perfect for sharing with your Valentine this year, so snag this recipe for your V-day treat roundup!
I topped mine with extra walnuts and hemp hearts for more texture and protein, but you could also use chocolate chips, homemade frosting, or enjoy them plain!
