Berry Baked Oat Squares

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

Berry Baked Oat Squares with rolled oats, almond flour, No Sugar Added SunButter, and berries. Bake and slice into squares for meal prep!

Berry Baked Oat Squares sliced on parchment paper with knife and fork

I know that some of you out there are kindred spirits who also enjoy immersing yourself in some good trash reality TV.

And I say “trash” with affection, because I can’t stop watching the Love Island USA 2024 season.

Like, my jaw literally could not drop any lower and it does so every evening and I watch the new tea unfold as I literally drink tea (kombucha) on the couch.

The first season I watched of Love Island was back in 2020, which I excused because I was going through a divorce and a global pandemic while living alone.

Now, my life’s mission is to rope M into being as addicted as I am.

I know I am victorious when he starts glancing down at his phone less and less, and starts asking seemingly innocent questions more and more.

Aaaaand another one bites the dust.

Something else I’m currently addicted to are these Berry Baked Oat Squares.

They’re made with rolled oats, almond flour, No Sugar Added SunButter, and berries.

Bake and slice them into squares for an easy meal prep situation.

By keeping your oatmeal prepped, you ensure that your tea is hot, too.

And they’re the perfect back-to-school snack so you can get back into a routine this fall!

8 Favorite Fig Recipes

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

8 of my favorite fig recipes to celebrate the transition from late summer to early fall! Incudes both savory and sweet fig recipes!

It’s been a wild (almost) two weeks since becoming dog mom to Flora, our Australian Shepherd puppy.

Yes, it’s true that time flies when you’re having fun, but it also flies when you’re busy AF.

Flora has us in a new routine of getting to bed early and getting up even earlier, which I like more than I thought I would.

Between puppy training (read: watching Flora repeatedly get the zoomies), brainstorming fall recipes, and big yoga moves, it’s been a busy August so far.

Let my update you on my yoga.

Last weekend I attended a Restorative Yoga Workshop so that I can begin incorporating restorative yoga into my teaching.

I also recently started teaching yoga on a weekly basis (every Saturday!).

If you’ve been around here a while, you know that having my very own class has been a goal of mine since graduating from YTT.

So I’m super excited at the opportunity to teach more frequently.

Some other milestones to celebrate this past week are:

  1. Flora had her first taste of peanut butter and is obsessed,
  2. M and I took Flora to her first coffee drive-through,
  3. and I found fresh digs at the super market.

Ah, figs. Which brings us to today’s collection of recipes that I have for you.

I love them so much, even if they have a weird origin.

Something about a wasp dying inside the the fig to pollinate them? Google it.

Either way, they’re delicious, and I’m excited to eat them for the next few months.

This recipe round up includes 8 of my favorite fig recipes to celebrate the transition from late summer to early fall!

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

10 of my favorite vegan peach recipes that will get you excited for summer stone fruit! Incudes both savory and sweet peach recipes!

This week we brought home Flora, our Australian Shepherd puppy.

I’m writing this post in advance, so I’m currently not able to gush about cute and sassy and cuddly she is.

(But I will, soon!)

Anyway, we planned to spend the week getting to know her and establishing a routine!

I decided it might be best for all of us if I took the week off shooting new content so she can slowly get used to her mom’s passion for food.

AKA making a huge mess in the kitchen.

So, while I don’t have a pup-date, I came happy to rave to you about peaches.

Is there *anything* better than biting into a ripe summer peach?

I think not.

Well, maybe using them in some of the recipes I’m rounding up for you today.

Yes, I’m sharing 10 of my favorite ways to use peaches in recipes!

This recipe round up includes incudes both savory and sweet peach recipes!

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

A collection of my favorite fruit spread recipes from naturally sweetened berry jams to smooth fruit butters. Spread them on everything!

If you’re like me, you probably only think of making homemade fruit spreads when you have an excess of something.

You made all of the pies and tarts and crumbles you can handle so you resort to making jam or jelly to use up fruit.

But what if we made jams, jellies, and fruit butters the reason (for the season!)

I remember the first time that I made homemade jam I was astonished at how easy it was to yield delicious results!

Over the years, I’ve compile some favorites that I make with seasonal fruits.

As we head barrel towards late summer and early fall, it feels like a good time to share this Fruit Spread Recipe Round Up with you today!

This collection of my favorite fruit spread recipes has everything from naturally sweetened berry jams to smooth fruit butters.

That means you can find something homemade and spreadable here for any time of year.

And these jams are low maintenance and easy to make without pectins, artificial sweeteners, and canning required.

Spread them on everything!

10 Cool Summer Meals

By Flora & Vino 1 Comment

10 Cool Summer Meals that are chill to make and cool to consume. Ditch the oven and make these light and hearty recipes!

Back during 2020 I initiated a walking every day ritual to get out of the house, get some movement in, and breath some fresh air.

It was an easy, tangible goal that I could achieve even in the height of the uncertainty of COVID.

Walk away from the house and walk back.

My daily walk benefitted me *so* much, I’ve kept it up for the past four years.

Until this summer.

For shame, I really have fallen off of my daily walk ever since we got back from Wyoming in June.

I want to blame the intense heat wave we’ve experienced here in Maryland.

And while that totally contributes (I’m about to sound like a cliché here), it’s the *humidity* that really sends me running back into my air conditioned foyer.

M and I joke about this area being a swamp, because the air is thick, wet, and makes your nose and lungs work to suck it in for respiration.

So while I don’t want to say I’m ready for fall, I’m definitely ready for easier breathing, cooler temps, and walks that I enjoy.

Speaking of the heat and humidity, it’s the worst time of year to turn on your oven!

I made that mistake last week and the AC had to work double hard to cool down the kitchen.

If you, too, are looking for some chill meals to make this summer that don’t require an oven or much cooking at all, I got you.

Check out these 10 Cool Summer Meals that are light, fresh, and cool, but hearty enough to pass for the main meal.

Strawberry SunButter Bark

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

Strawberry SunButter Bark made nut-free with fresh strawberries, No Sugar Added SunButter, and vegan dark chocolate. The best sweet treat!

Strawberry SunButter Bark served on parchment lined wooden board with bowl of strawberries, dark chocolate chips, and spoon with SunButter on it

Hi, friends!

If you receive my weekly emails or if you follow me on Instagram, you know that M and I have some big news.

We’re getting a puppy!!!

Her name is Flora and she’s a red tri Australian Shepherd pup.

I’m counting down the weeks and days until we can scoop her up in early August.

Like with most new and large responsibilities that I take on, I’m a big fan of the little steps every day approach.

This means every day doing either: puppy proofing the house, watching a puppy training video, or just gushing over her latest photo updates with M.

Every day I think we get a little closer to being ready to be puppy parents.

Of course, it’ll be a learn as you go experience for all of us (Flora included!), but I’m so excited to take on this journey with M.

So now there actually IS a Flora from Flora & Vino, friends, and it’s not me!

This is kind of an inside joke because I have gotten countless emails over years the addressing me as “Flora” from people who saw my brand name and…assumed.

Also because I think the name Flora is adorable and it’s so on brand, isn’t it?!

You know what else is on brand?

My latest recipe that I’m about to share with you to beat the heat.

This Strawberry SunButter Bark is made nut-free with fresh strawberries, SunButter, and vegan dark chocolate.

Enjoy it for a fresh frozen treat this summer to beat the current heat wave!

Roasted Cauliflower Tacos with Chipotle Cashew Crema

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

Roasted Cauliflower Tacos made with frozen cauliflower served in tortillas with a chipotle cashew crema and your favorite toppings.

Roasted Cauliflower Tacos served on a plate with Chipotle Cashew Crema topped with cilantro and red cabbage

Recently M and I got into a heated debate about whether tacos and sandwiches were the same thing.

His argument was that they were both essentially breading wrapped around protein, making them essentially the same.

“NO!” I practically spat out in the kitchen, hardly suppressing my laughter.

“They’re nothing alike! A taco is in tortillas and a sandwich is made with bread and tortilla does not equal bread, end of story.”

He said both bread and tortilla are just carriers for deliciousness, which I suppose is true.

But it’s also true that tacos are magical and no sandwich could ever compare despite how hard it tries.

Do you agree or disagree?

I can M and I both agree, however, that this newest taco recipe I have to share with you has got *it* goin’ on.

These Roasted Cauliflower Tacos with Chipotle Cashew Crema are made with frozen cauliflower served in tortillas with chipotle cashews crema.

Add your favorite toppings and enjoy for Taco Tuesday or any day of the week!

Just don’t call it a sandwich, mmk?

Peaches ‘N’ Cream Overnight Oats

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

Peaches ‘N’ Cream Overnight Oats with vegan yogurt, rolled oats, and peaches. Perfect to make in advance for a healthy breakfast!

Peaches ‘N’ Cream Overnight Oats served in mason jars on wooden board with diced peaches, oats, and granola scattered

Life has been decidedly and deliciously slower the past two weeks.

After a busy week of travel, M and I took an unplanned “staycation” to catch up on sleep, life, and work.

Aside from going out for the necessities, AKA groceries, indoor rock climbing, and Nagadi coffee, the car has remained watchful in its parking spot.

At first I fought the rest, trying to find productivity in the stillness, achievement in the sleep, and accomplishment in the quiet.

But then I settled into these long and languid summer days.

Reading ACOTAR with M nestled into the couch, playing card games with our new Yellowstone deck, eating ice cream until my tongue is numb and tasteless.

It seems like since we got back into town the summer produce scene exploded overnight.

The zucchini looks greener, heirloom tomatoes are bigger, and the peaches are juicier.

Today’s recipe is one that I developed before our trip, but one that I came back to afterwards because it’s easy, filling, and screams summer!

AKA perfect for our summer vacation, staycation, and everything in between.

These Peaches ‘N’ Cream Overnight Oats are made with vegan yogurt, rolled oats, and peaches.

It’s perfect to make in advance for a healthy breakfast to fuel you for whatever summer has in store for you.

Vegan Blueberry Cheesecake

By Flora & Vino 4 Comments

Vegan Blueberry Cheesecake with a gluten-free oat crust, dairy-free coconut cashew cream cheese filling, and a blueberry topping.

Vegan Blueberry Cheesecake sliced on parchment paper with knife and scattered blueberries with one slice served on white plate with a fork.

We just home after a grand adventure through Wyoming!

M’s coworker just got married there, so we decided to make a trip out of it and visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park.

After living out of an RV for a week, I’m so very tired and excited to be back home.

Here’s an indication of just how exhausted I was after our travels; the first night back I slept 14 hours (yes, you read that correctly)!

It was a hard trip in the sense that we were on the go constantly.

While living in a camper allows you to have everything you need with you, there’s also a *lot* of maintenance and responsibility involved with keeping the van functioning that I wasn’t exactly prepared for.

You’re constantly filling water, dumping (gross) water, securing the van for driving, opening and closing windows, flipping switches, organizing, reorganizing, losing shit, losing your shit, rinse, repeat.

HOWEVER.

The RV did allow us access to the parks in a way that other accommodations wouldn’t have.

We were able to see everything we wanted to within Yellowstone, which is saying a lot, because Yellowstone is SO much bigger than I could comprehend.

My favorite Yellowstone highlights were the Upper and Lower Falls hike at the Yellowstone Grand Canyon, Mammoth Springs, and watching a playful bison take a dirt bath off the side of the road.

Grand Teton was probably more my style, with the beautiful backdrop of the Tetons ever present on the skyline.

My Grand Teton highlights were watching the sunset at Schwabacher Landing and doing the hike to Inspiration Point at Jenny Lake.

We saw moose, elk, bison, and lots of chipmunks, but no bears, much to my relief and M’s disappointment.

It was a hard beautiful trip that I won’t forget anytime soon.

Another recent unforgettable is that Vegan Blueberry Cheesecake.

It’s made with a gluten-free oat crust, dairy-free coconut cashew cream cheese filling, and a blueberry topping.

This beautiful dessert is guaranteed to be etched in your memory this summer!
