My life is currently split between two homes, each marked by bulging brown boxes.

I’m still primarily living from the condo, because that’s where the food and bed is, ya know.

But more and more I’m starting to feel out my new townhome.

Last Saturday I sat on the carpeted stairs, eating a raw bar and listening to the air conditioner, trying to imagine my whole life and business expanding within the angular white walls.

Each time a friend comes over to see the new digs it feels a little more like home.

The goal is to have everything out by early next week, and by everything I mean everything, from my favorite recliner down to the last Hu Kitchen gem.

Tons of first day photos filled my feed: lots of kids, parents, dogs, backpacks, and celebratory breakfasts.

Does anyone else get Memorial Day and Labor Day mixed up when referencing the holidays, like two bookends, that hug summer from either side?

But Labor Day is fast approaching, which, to me, symbolizes the unofficial end of summer.

Overnight the pools close, the stores start showing sweaters, and everyone starts craving pumpkin.

Think temperatures in the low eighties with low humidity and lots of sunshine.

I call these good photography days because the sun beams into the studio and bounces off the hardwoods and dances around my latest eats on display.

This weekend, said eats weren’t on display very long before they got swiped up for slurping.

Last day of July– where exactly did that come from???

The biggest development this week so far is that the house finally sold.

It feels a bit surreal knowing that this place I’ve called home for three years will be somebody else’s in a little over a month.

What makes it more poignant is that Flora & Vino HQ, the first place I set up shop for this biz of mine, will be moving along with me.

But home is where the heart is, and work is where the food is, yeah?

For the past three years I’ve been making her these super simple baked dog treats to ring in her big day.

Each year I have to dig it up the recipe to make and share, so I’m finally sharing here so none of us lose it ever again!

It’s hard to forget, because these biscuits are done in under 30 minutes with clean pantry ingredients.

Recently, I started turning my phone off at the gas station after realizing it was a safety hazard.

I’m probably the biggest rule follower you’ve ever met, so you bet I abide by all of the safety guidelines.

Anyway, those 60-100 seconds sometimes feel like the longest of my entire day.

Filling my tank tonight, I stood there, feeling a foreign sense of disconnection and unease.

Phone-less, stranded between two locations, completely immobile.

Lately I’ve been leaning into experiences like this that make me feel the discomfort of just BEING, you know?

No where to go, nothing to do, nothing to achieve.

This Thai Carrot Sweet Potato Soup is made on the stovetop with root vegetables and yellow curry paste blended with a spoonful of nut butter. I used a standing blender but you can also use an immersion blender to achieve the creamiest consistency.

Whether you love TFK as much as I do, you’re going to be obsessed with my version of this cauliflower! It’s baked and then coated in a tahini sauce and topped with fresh herbs, cranberries, and hazelnuts. Enjoy it as an appetizer or side! Cozy and delicious all year round.
