Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding made with Organic Chia Seeds and espresso topped with cacao. Perfect to meal prep for breakfast or a snack!
This year, we got our hands on our first espresso maker.
We purchased it second hand so there was no pressing urgency to use it religiously.
While I have used it bagel (0!) times, M has already gotten our money’s worth and then some with all of the espresso he has experimented with.
The addition of the espresso maker inspired a kitchen reorg with the creation of “coffee corner”.
We now have a whole corner of our precious counter space dedicated to coffee related things, including but not limited to:
Our coffee grinder, bags of beans, the coffee scale, the new espresso maker, and all of it’s accoutrements.
With the new workspace, he’s tried pretty much every bean from our favorite local roaster to dial in the best ‘spresso.
So, naturally, he was delighted when I requested that he make me espresso shots for today’s recipe.
Tiramisu has been a long time favorite dessert of mine, but one that I’ve yet to make vegan.
So I’m excited to share my version of the Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding.
This chia pudding incorporates all of the layers and flavors of tiramisu, without all of the hard work.
It’s Tiramisu in pudding form!
My version of the Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding is made with Organic Chia Seeds and espresso topped with cacao.
It’s perfect to meal prep for an energizing breakfast or a snack!
What You Need to Make Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding
There are several variations of the Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding, but I personally think the simplest version is the best.
This version doesn’t have any complicated layers, and it’s packed with flavor and nutrition to fuel your day.
Here’s what you need to make Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding:
- Navitas Organics Organic Chia Seeds
- unsweetened coconut or almond milk
- pure maple syrup
- espresso
That’s it!
How to Make Tiramisu Chia Pudding
My favorite thing about chia pudding is how easy it is to mix up and meal prep!
Add the chia seeds, almond milk, maple syrup, and espresso to a large mixing bowl and whisk everything to combine.
Allow the pudding to sit on the counter for 5 minutes, then whisk it again.
You’ll notice the chia seeds start to clump and thicken after a few minutes, so that’s why we mix again to redistribute them.
Cover the pudding and refrigerate it for 3-4 hours to chill and thicken.
What You Need to Layer Chia Pudding
The best tiramisu has layers, so this Tiramisu Chia Pudding is no different.
The layers of this chia pudding create the familiar tiramisu flavor without all of the extra work!
Here’s what I used for layering this tiramisu chia pudding:
- Unsweetened almond milk yogurt
- Navitas Organics Organic Cacao Powder
- Navitas Organics Organic Cacao Nibs
That’s it!
How to Layer Tiramisu Chia Pudding
Divide the chia pudding into individual weck jars and top with a layer of yogurt and dusting of cacao powder and sprinkle of cacao nibs.
Because I divided this recipe into roughly 2 servings, I added about 1/4 cup of yogurt to each jar on top of the chia pudding layer.
I like to use a small sieve to sift the cacao powder over the yogurt to get a nice even dusting without any clumping.
Sprinkle on the cacao nibs for a little crunch and extra antioxidants.
Voila, your pudding is layered!
Brand Notes
I used Navitas Organics Chia Seeds to create this chia pudding recipe.
These 100% organic chia seeds are an excellent source of plant-based omega-3s.
They also provide a good amount of protein and fiber to your eats.
These mighty chia seeds can absorb up to 10x their weight in liquid when soaked!
Navitas Organics Chia Seeds have a neutral flavor that make them super versatile and perfect for any recipe.
Today, we’re using them in this Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding!
For toppings, I used Navitas Organics Organic Cacao Powder and Navitas Organics Organic Cacao Nibs to add some rich cacao flavor.
I love that these products are 100% cacao and rich in vitamins and minerals.
Plus, they deliver the best chocolate-y taste that pairs beautifully with espresso!
Swaps and Substitutions
To make this recipe nut-free, sub another plant milk for the almond milk and another plant-based yogurt for the almond milk yogurt.
Another liquid sweetener can be used instead of maple syrup.
If you’re sensitive to caffeine (like I am!), try using a decaf espresso.
You can also use 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee instead of espresso, if you don’t have an espresso maker.
This recipe does work best with coffee notes to get that true tiramisu flavoring!
Notes on Meal Prep
This Tiramisu Chia Pudding is perfect to make for a meal prep breakfast or snack.
You can store leftover Tiramisu Chia Pudding in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
The chia pudding may get thicker over time, but you can fix this by adding a splash of almond milk to thin it out a bit.
I like to add any additional toppings just before serving so they retain their flavor.
How to Serve Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding
Enjoy this Viral Tiramisu Chia Pudding as a delicious snack or breakfast.
This recipes serves about two, so you can double or triple the recipe for more servings.
I like to meal prep multiple jars to have on hand for easy snacking throughout the week.
Feel free to add whatever toppings you have on hand.
Some other fun ideas are chopped nuts, granola, dried or fresh fruit, and shredded coconut.
Enjoy!
