Banana Peanut Butter Bites made with banana, peanut butter, hemp hearts, and dark chocolate chips. Enjoy them raw or freeze for a sweet chilled snack!

Banana Peanut Butter Bites by Flora & Vino

If you’ve been following me for a while you know that I didn’t eat raw bananas for…a while.

Whether it was a real intolerance or not, I’m not sure, but for a while I didn’t feel great post-nana.

So I wrote them off my grocery list and only used them baked into banana bread.

Until recently, I started craving them.

My body really wanted bananas, so I decided to listen.

I split open a banana, slices it into rounds, and dipped it into peanut butter.

It tasted *so* good, friends.

As I stood in the kitchen gobbling up banana bites, I kicked myself for all the banana possibilities I missed out on in the past few years.

Let’s make up for lost time and make these Banana Peanut Butter Bites on repeat, OK?

The Birth of Banana Peanut Butter Bites

In my raw banana consumption testing, these Banana Peanut Butter Bites were born.

I wish I could take credit as being the first one to spread nut butter on bananas and adding on toppings, but I’m pretty sure 123456 versions exist on social media.

It’s one of those recipes that’s hardly a recipe, but I want to share it anyway because I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it as a snack for the past two weeks.

But you’re here for my version, and I’m here to share it with you today!

Here’s What You Need

  • banana
  • all-natural peanut butter
  • dairy-free dark chocolate chips
  • hemp hearts

That’s it!

How to Choose the Best Bananas for Banana Bites

Even though I’m eating raw bananas again, I’m taking it slow.

I started out with half a banana, and when my body was good with that, I gave it a full banana.

It’s funny, I’m still weird about the sweetness and texture sometimes.

If you’re fickle about bananas, too, I recommend using a *just* ripe banana for snacking.

The sugar content, soft texture, and stickiness of the overly ripe bananas are better kept for baking banana bread.

Using a just ripe (not green, but yellow without many spots) yields the best tasting banana bites!

How to Make Banana Bites

Add the sliced banana to a plate and spoon a bit of peanut butter on each round.

I didn’t measure my peanut butter, but anywhere from 1/2 – 1 tsp is probably a good guess.

If you’re not into peanut butter or avoiding peanut butter for any reason, any nut or seed butter can be used in its place.

I really love using crunchy peanut butter on my bites for extra texture!

Sprinkle on Your Toppings

Next, sprinkle on your dark chocolate chips and hemp hearts.

If you don’t have chocolate chips, you could also use a shaved dark chocolate bar or cacao nibs.

You can try using chia seeds in place of hemp seeds for a variation.

After you’ve sprinkled on your toppings, your Banana Peanut Butter Bites are ready to serve!

Serve Them Fresh or Frozen

You can choose to serve these bites immediately, which is what I started out doing.

For a frozen variation, transfer the rounds to the freezer and enjoy them as a chilled snack later!

I tried this and was blown away by how good they tasted the next day.

You can also mash the two rounds together to make a banana sandwich and freeze them that way.

It’s hard for me to say if I prefer the recipe raw or frozen; they’re both delicious!

The frozen variation is a great way to use an excess of bananas for a sweet summer snack or dessert.

How to Best Enjoy Banana Bites

These Banana Peanut Butter Bites are great for a quick snack or dessert.

I love making mine as a mid-morning snack or pre/post workout fuel.

They’re delicious for adults but also a fun treat to make with kids!

Mix up the nut butters and toppings to make your own variations.

Try them both raw and frozen and let me know which way you prefer!

The frozen Banana Peanut Butter Bites will keep in the freezer for one month.

Enjoy!
