Baked By Melissa’s Green Goddess Salad

By Flora & Vino 2 Comments

My version of the viral green goddess salad with cabbage, herb-y green dressing, and chickpeas. Perfect to meal prep for a fresh lunch!

Baked By Melissa's Green Goddess Salad served in glass bowl with two spoons by Flora & Vino

If you’ve been following me on social media, you know that I joined TikTok this year.

Because social media is big part of my job, I rarely find myself scrolling without a purpose.

TikTok, however, is an entirely different story, friends.

In the evenings when I’m too tired to make the move from the couch to the bed, I fall down a Tik Tok rabbit hole.

My thumb seems to move entirely of its own volition, descending through messy kitchens, viral sounds, and couples humor.

It’s like the wild, wild west.

Many evenings the app makes me laugh out loud, causing me to shove my phone in M’s face and plead, “Just WATCH this,” between giggles.

He’ll roll his eyes and say, “I don’t understand TikTok!”

Well, you don’t have to understand or even like the app to appreciate the recipe that I’m sharing today.

This Green Goddess Salad is my version of the salad from Baked By Melissa that was EVERYWHERE on the internet earlier this year.

And I saw it first on…you guessed it…TikTok!

Peaches ‘N’ Cream Protein Shake

By Flora & Vino 2 Comments

Peaches ‘N’ Cream Protein Shake made with frozen peaches, banana, and non-dairy yogurt. Perfect for a post-workout summer breakfast or snack!

Peaches ‘N’ Cream Protein Shake served in mason jar on plate with straw topped with granola. There's a spoon on the plate with granola and a banana and peached on the side.

It’s hot here, friends, and I’m struggling to fit in my long runs for marathon training without melting.

Even when I set an alarm to beat the sun, I open the weather app to find the dawn temperature lingering just below 80 degrees.

But when I can peel myself off of the couch, lace up my sneakers, and step out onto the asphalt, usually the temperature falls into the background.

There’s something really lovely about running before the day begins.

Lately, my favorite post-run fuel is this Peaches ‘N’ Cream Protein Shake.

It’s so easy to blend up minutes after stepping through the door.

It’s cool and refreshing, lightly sweetened with banana and super creamy with almond milk yogurt with a hint of cinnamon.

Quick Corn Salsa

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

Quick corn salsa with frozen sweet corn, fresh cilantro, and lime. Perfect to serve as dip with chips or as an addition to tacos, burritos, bowls, and more!

Quick Corn Salsa by Flora & Vino

Recently, I taught my first yoga class in my new position as a substitute teacher!

I was all nerves as I arrived at the studio wearing my lucky yoga tank (the one I got during teacher training) with my yoga books and prepared routine.

Whenever I’m nervous, I remind myself that anxiety and excitement kind of feel the same way in the body.

It just means that I *care*.

But as soon as I started teaching, breathing, being with the class, it was all good.

If you’ve been around here a while, you know when I completed YTT in 2019 I firmly believed that I only wanted to know more about yoga.

I never saw myself actually teaching…and now, I am.

It feels good, right, and fulfilling.

Afterwards, M and I ordered tacos and burritos from Chipotle to celebrate.

I usually get their corn salsa, which, in addition to the lonely bag of frozen corn in my freezer, was the inspiration for this recipe.

This Quick Corn Salsa is made with frozen sweet corn, fresh cilantro, and lime.

Serve it with chips or as an addition to tacos, burritos, bowls, and more!

Rainbow Vegetable Kabobs with Creamy Sriracha Sauce

Rainbow Vegetable Kabobs with Creamy Sriracha Sauce made on the grill or grill pan. Enjoy them over rice with fresh herbs for a fresh summer meal!

Rainbow Vegetable Kabobs with Creamy Sriracha Sauce by Flora & Vino

It’s grilling season!

Lately, when I take my daily walk through the neighborhood, I come back hungry.

And not because I walked 10,000 steps.

It’s because tantalizing smells are wafting from the neighboring houses.

It takes all I have  not to pop in their garden or patio where upbeat music plays, voices carry, and smoke rises from the grill.

Clearly, I didn’t get the invite.

But friends, I’m cordially inviting you to my plant-based grilling party.

It’s a Rainbow Vegetable Kabobs with Creamy Sriracha Sauce party!

Attire: grilling casual.

RSVP, yes or no?

Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

Chocolate tahini banana pops are the vegan treat you need this summer! Frozen bananas drizzled in tahini and chocolate and rolled in nuts.

Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops served on parchment lined baking sheet with tahini, melted chocolate, and fresh bananas on the side

I swear, something magical happens to bananas when they freeze.

If you’re joining in on my current banana craze, then you’re going to love this week’s recipe.

Did you eat Nestle’s Drumsticks growing up?

Because that’s what these Chocolate Tahini Banana Pops remind me of.

They sit somewhere deliciously between an ice cream cone, fudgsicle, and popsicle.

I took halved bananas, froze them, covered them in tahini and melted chocolate, then rolled them in nuts.

This frozen treat is perfect for a sweet snack or healthy dessert.

Ready to make some banana pops?!

Banana Peanut Butter Bites

Banana Peanut Butter Bites made with banana, peanut butter, hemp hearts, and dark chocolate chips. Enjoy them raw or freeze for a sweet chilled snack!

Banana Peanut Butter Bites by Flora & Vino

If you’ve been following me for a while you know that I didn’t eat raw bananas for…a while.

Whether it was a real intolerance or not, I’m not sure, but for a while I didn’t feel great post-nana.

So I wrote them off my grocery list and only used them baked into banana bread.

Until recently, I started craving them.

My body really wanted bananas, so I decided to listen.

I split open a banana, slices it into rounds, and dipped it into peanut butter.

It tasted *so* good, friends.

As I stood in the kitchen gobbling up banana bites, I kicked myself for all the banana possibilities I missed out on in the past few years.

Let’s make up for lost time and make these Banana Peanut Butter Bites on repeat, OK?

Vegan Cosmic Brownies

Vegan cosmic brownies with almond flour and sweetened with coconut sugar. Top them with Chocolate SunButter and sprinkles for a fun dessert!

Vegan Cosmic Brownies served on plates with sprinkles and Chocolate SunButter by Flora & Vino

This holiday weekend I set a PR for most shooting stars seen in one evening.

On Memorial Day, M and I drove to the Shenandoah to see the Tau Herculids Meteor Shower.

We chose the Shenandoah because it’s low in light pollution with dark skies and great views, so it’s perfect for star gazing.

I yawned and grumbled getting there, but once I was cozied up in my camp chair with blankets surrounded by the glittering night, I was happy to be there.

Around 1 AM we watched stars streak across the sky while M took photos, hoping to catch a beautiful bright arch across the frame.

It’s always humbling to stare up at the night sky, feeling so incredibly small compared to those fire balls whizzing through space.

I can’t share the cosmos with you, but I can share some cosmic brownies with you that are pretty out of this world.

These Vegan Cosmic Brownies are made with almond flour and topped with Chocolate SunButter and dotted with sprinkles for a fun dessert!

1-Pot SunButter Pasta

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

Easy 1-pot SunButter Pasta with lentil pasta and garden vegetables in a creamy SunButter-based sauce. Perfect to make for easy weeknight dinners!

1-Pot SunButter Pasta by Flora & Vino

There are just some meals or style of meals that I tend to make on a weekly basis.

Wednesday is usually pasta night here at F&V.

I love making pasta because it’s relatively inexpensive, easy to throw together, and tastes like a big hug mid-week.

Growing up, pasta night usually meant red marinara on noodles with a a protein.

But M isn’t the big fan of tomato sauces, which is fine, because  tomato sauces aren’t always the biggest fan of my stomach.

So, I’ve been experimenting with creamier sauce alternatives, like alfredo, pesto, and now…SunButter!

This 1-Pot SunButter Pasta is my latest favorite pasta dish.

It’s made in in 1-pot with legume pasta and garden vegetables in a creamy SunButter-based sauce.

It’s perfect to make for easy weeknight dinners– I usually get it on the table in less than 30 minutes before our standing Wednesday game night!

PB&J Yogurt Parfait

PB&J Yogurt Parfait made with peanut butter, fresh strawberries, and plant-based yogurt. Serve with granola for a fun meal prep breakfast.

PB&J Yogurt Parfait served in a mason jar on a wooden board with a peanut butter spoon by Flora & Vino

I’ve been on a *huge* peanut butter and jelly kick recently, friends.

I think I approach the classic combination of fruit and nut butter with more curiosity after M explained that it really isn’t a thing in Germany.

It’s hard for me to divorce the nostalgia of childhood from mixing sweet jam and nut butter…in any form.

With berry season well on its way, I thought I should get a head start on making recipes bursting with berries.

Whether you grew up on PB&J or are entirely new to the combination, you’re going to love this post.

These PB&J Yogurt Parfait are my latest breakfast obsession.

They’re so easy to meal prep in advance or layer together in less than 5 minutes the morning.

Vegan Bean Burrito

By Flora & Vino 2 Comments

Quick vegan bean burrito with stovetop pinto beans and vegetables wrapped in a cassava tortilla with your favorite toppings. Perfect for a weeknight meal!

Vegan Bean Burrito halved and stacked on wooden board by Flora & Vino

Team tacos or team burritos?

When I was young Taco Bell bean burritos with Mild sauce and no onions were my jam.

I loved them in all of their slightly smashed, bean-y, spicy, cheesy glory.

When I got older I redefined myself as more of sophisticated taco lover.

But, that’s *totally* a foodie limiting belief, y’all.

Why can’t I be both?

I’m bringing burritos back with these Vegan Bean Burrito.

Wrap them up for an easy weeknight meal with stovetop pinto beans, tomato, vegan cheese, and your favorite mix-ins.
