Peanut Butter Date Caramel made with no added sugar and just three ingredients! Super drizzly and sweetened with Medjool dates.
Do you say care-a-mel or car-mall?
I’m a care-a-mel kind of a girl, myself, but I’ll respond to either, especially when peanut butter and dates are involved.
This Peanut Butter Date Caramel is the perfect fall dip that you can whip up in 5 minutes to transform your fall snacking!
It’s naturally date-sweetened sweetened, peanut protein-rich, and oil free, all with major drizzle potential.
You might have heard of date caramel before, yes?
This recipe was inspired by my very own Easy Date Caramel, which you should also check out.
This recipe mimics my original recipe with a very important addition– creamy peanut butter.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore my original date caramel recipe and how easy it is….I just might love this one ever so slightly more.
Creamy peanut butter adds in healthy fats and sort of takes the “edge” off sometimes super-sweet dates.
Plus, peanut butter and dates just GO together.
What You Need to Make Vegan Date Caramel
Here’s what you need to make date caramel with peanut butter:
- Medjool dates
- runny all-natural creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 – 1 cup hot water OR unsweetened almond/coconut milk
That’s it!
How to Make Vegan Date Caramel
It’s so easy– all you do is throw everything into a blender and push a button!
Use filtered water or unsweetened almond milk to thin your caramel– I ended up using a mix of both.
Your peanut butter date caramel might appear a bit runny when you first pour it out of the blender.
That’s OK!
Be sure to chill it for a few hours in the fridge until it gets nice and gooey and pourable.
At this point you can drizzle it on all of the things.
Bare Snacks Apple Chips
Naturally, I used my favorite Bare Snacks Apple Chips to test the combo straight from the blender.
These apple chips, like this Date Caramel, have zero added sugar, oils, dairy, gluten, or preservatives!
They’re perfect to serve with this Peanut Butter Date Caramel for a unique spin on traditional caramel apples.
How to Serve Peanut Butter Date Caramel
Try this Peanut Butter Date Caramel on all of your favorite fall things!
Serve it warm by heating in a saucepan over medium heat for a few minutes or enjoy it chilled straight out of the fridge.
You’ll definitely have more caramel than apple chips, so if you want to try some new combos, try drizzling the leftovers on dessert, toast, ice cream, yogurt, fruit, pancakes, or waffles.
Enjoy!

PrintPeanut Butter Date Caramel
- Total Time: 5 mins
- Yield: ~1 1/4 cups
- Diet: Vegan
Description
Peanut Butter Date Caramel made with no added sugar and just three ingredients! Super drizzly and sweetened with Medjool dates.
Ingredients
- 10–12 Medjool dates, pitted and soaked in boiling water for 5 minutes
- 1/2 cup runny all-natural creamy peanut butter (or sub smooth nut butter of choice)
- 1/2 – 1 cup hot water OR unsweetened almond/coconut milk + more as needed to thin
- 1 bag Bare Snacks Fuji & Red Apple Chips
Instructions
- Add the dates, peanut butter, and hot water or almond milk to a high-speed blender or food processor and blend until it’s smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed. Add more almond milk or water as needed to reach your desired consistency– I used close to 1 cup total. Try adding liquid in small increments to ensure the caramel doesn’t get too runny. The sauce may seem too runny at first, this is normal. For the best consistency, transfer the caramel to a glass jar or airtight container and refrigerate 4-6 hours or overnight before serving. Caramel will thicken up while refrigerated.
- Serve the caramel after thickening with your favorite dessert, toast, apple slices, or apple chips!
- Store leftover peanut butter date caramel in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
