Low-Sugar Blueberry Zucchini Almond Butter Shake

By Flora & Vino 4 Comments

Easy low-sugar shake that’s packed with protein and hidden zucchini! Perfect for a quick breakfast or snack using leftover zucchini from the fridge!

Low-Sugar Blueberry Zucchini Almond Butter Shake

If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be steaming and freezing zucchini to throw into shakes and then blogging about it, I would have laughed in your face.

I’m not sure what part would have been funnier– the zucchini in the blender part or the being a full time blogger part.

Both would have elicited a big hearty belly laugh.

But here I am, friends, taking my steamed and frozen zucchini and the blogging details v. seriously.

Exhibit A, this Low-Sugar Blueberry Zucchini Almond Butter Shake, is no laughing matter.

It’s super creamy, packed with healthy fats, protein, veggies, and low in sugar, with the most luscious Wendy’s frosty consistency.

Jackpot.

Vegan Chocolate Donuts

By Flora & Vino 2 Comments

Vegan chocolate donuts made with oat flour and naturally sweetened with maple syrup. Topped with a decadent 2-ingredient chocolate ganache.

Vegan Chocolate Donuts on white plates with donuts on cooling rack with knife

I’m feeling pretty impressed with myself today, friends.

I’m over here metaphorically twirling my index finger in the air ringed with round baked goods.

Behold!

The first donut recipe on Flora & Vino.

Of course it had to be chocolate.

These Vegan Chocolate Donuts with Chocolate Hazelnut Ganache are ready in just 15 minutes with whole food ingredients you can feel good about!

I’ve had donuts on the brain for a while now, ever since a friend reached out asking if I had a go-to recipe to share.

At the time I didn’t, and honestly donuts were something I had dismissed from my diet as being too…not F&V.

I mean, there’s no way an oil-free, gluten free, refined sugar free, and vegan donut could exist, right?

Unless it could.

These Vegan Chocolate Donuts are a rare bird and you’re going to want to stop, stare, devour, and do it all over again.

Lemon Pepper Tofu "Steaks" served on plates over quinoa with roasted asparagus and forks

Well hi, hi, hello!

I don’t know what’s gotten into me this week, but I’ve been all about routines and positive outlooks.

Somewhere along my 2018 journey I lost the structure that keeps my days and eats from all running together in one big MEAL.

This new protocol includes waking up early, sweating a little before breakfast, and taking time to check in with myself mentally and physically before the day begins.

Somehow, these little steps instantly take my mindset from stressed to strengthened.

It’s contagious, so watch out.

The good vibes are coming for you, too!

Starting with this delicious Lemon Pepper Tofu that comes together in 30 minutes for a delicious plant-based entree. …

Tofu steaks glazed with a rosemary balsamic reduction in just 30 minutes. Serve with asparagus and quinoa for a plant-based dinner!

Rosemary Balsamic Glazed Tofu served on plates with asparagus and quinoa by Flora & Vino

Happy MAY!

How’s it going?

I’m preparing for an upcoming “sister getaway” with my sis this weekend in New York City!

She’s never been to the big apple and we vowed to make it happen this year.

So it’s May, the trip is imminent, and I’m dreaming about some of the eclectic eats we might stumble upon in the city.

Pass me a big bowl full of veggies drizzled in tahini and I’m a happy camper, but occasionally I do crave a more classic plating.

In the world of plants, this is sometimes hard to come by.

That’s why we need to add this Rosemary Balsamic Glazed Tofu with Asparagus to our plant-based dining repertoire!

It’s got the best oil-free, gluten-free glaze that comes together in less than 30 minutes for a hearty dinner spread.

Let’s go dine FINE.

Chocolate Chunk Muesli Snack Cookies served on parchment paper on serving board with a glass of milk by Flora & Vino

Cookie Confessions P1: I’ve never used muesli in any of the conventional muesli ways.

Nope, I’ve never enjoyed it soaked, on the stovetop, or in yogurt.

But I do use it in regularly in cookies, so I can work my way backwards from creative to generic, yeah?

I’m so excited to share these Chocolate Chunk Muesli Snack Cookies with you!

Well, maybe not these cookies specifically, (that might break my heart) but the recipe is up for the taking!

You’re going to love their hearty texture, short ingredient list, and gooey dark chocolate chunks.

Let’s get baking!

Strawberry Banana Almond Butter Granola

By Flora & Vino 4 Comments

Strawberry banana granola made oil-free with creamy almond butter and sweetened with maple syrup. Gluten-free with a grain-free option!

Strawberry Banana Almond Butter Granola served in bowl with almond butter on top and fresh strawberries with bananas and almond milk on side

Hi friends!

I bought my first big carton of fresh strawberries this week.

They were the big bulbous deep red ones ones that you can’t help but stare at long and hard before sinking your teeth in.

Strawberry season is a little late this year in Virginia because of all the warm to cold to warm to cold weather patterns.

That’s OK, though, because I’ve been working a granola recipe with all of the strawberry vibes without disrupting the strawberry fields.

Remember that time I made Oil-Free Chunky Tahini Granola and became a little (OK, a lot) obsessed with it?

Well, I’m back with a new oil-free version today that’s equally delicious.

It starts with gluten-free oats, almonds, pecans, and shredded coconut.

Creamy almond butter replaces added oils and maple syrup adds unrefined natural sweetness.

Stir in my new favorite strawberry banana chips, and you have a strawberry banana bash!

I left the clusters fairly “chunky” here, but if you prefer a finer consistency try adding everything to the blender and pulsing for a few times to even things out.

This Strawberry Banana Almond Butter Granola is what I want to wake up to in spring and every day always.

It comes together in under 30 minutes with ingredients you can count on both hands.

Let’s do it!

Black Soy Bean, Beet, & Bok Choy Bowl with Garlic Ginger Tahini Dressing

Easy power bowl with black soy beans, beets, and bok choy served over a bed of quinoa and drizzled with a creamy garlic ginger tahini.

Black Soy Bean, Beet, & Bok Choy Bowl with Garlic Ginger Tahini Dressing (V, GF, OF)

I’ve been thinking a lot about this tight-rope that we all walk on, friends.

Balance is hard, isn’t it?

We’re constantly pulled in dual directions in an epic never-ending tug-of-war of different virtues.

Self-love and Self-improvement. Action and Inaction. Simplicity and Complexity.

One thing that I think we can all agree on is that the best eats are the ones that start simple and taste complex, though, don’t you think?

A bit of yin and yang.

This Black Soy Bean, Beet, & Bok Choy Bowl with Garlic Ginger Tahini Dressing comes together in under 30 minutes with bright whole foods and a creamy tahini dressing.

You can save the “To be or not to be…?” and focus on the real cruz of the matter….

To bowl or not to bowl?

(And why the heck not?!)

Sweet Potato Veggie Burger Sliders

By Flora & Vino 4 Comments

Sweet potato veggie burger sliders with sweet potato buns featuring Hilary’s Eat Well veggie burgers. Stack everything up with your favorite toppings!

Sweet Potato Veggie Burger Sliders by Flora & Vino

The yoga studio I go to is a solid 30 minute drive, sometimes more if there’s any traffic.

Many evenings I’m that girl, running up the steps to the studio lugging my heavy Manduka yoga mat and a water bottle under one arm.

I put on the brakes right before entering the studio so I can maintain some semblance of being a zen yogi, ready for practice.

I don’t think I’m fooling anyone.

I always emerge from my practice and the hot hot room fan hour later calmer, clearer, chill-er, oh, and HUNGRY.

On the walk down to the car I quickly assess the leftover situation and then get Dan on speed dial to ask him to preheat the oven to 400, please.

These Hilary’s Sweet Potato Sliders are currently my go-to post yoga noms for a quick plant-based meal that’s fun, filling, and FAST.
