Homemade Electrolyte Water with Eden Foods French Celtic Sea Salt and lemon and lime sweetened with maple syrup. The perfect way to hydrate!
If you’ve been following me a while, you know that I’m *pretty* active.
I keep myself moving with daily walks plus a mix of pilates, yoga, dancing, rock climbing, running, and hiking.
Sometimes it feels like there aren’t enough days in the week to fit all of my desired workouts into.
I’ve always used water to hydrate and replenish during workouts, but during my marathon training, I realized that wasn’t going to cut it.
So I started using electrolyte tablets in my water to ensure I’m getting proper hydration to replenish both water and salt.
It took me a while to recognize and understand that water alone isn’t enough to keep you hydrated….you need some salt, too!
M and I both started using them in situations where we sweat and noticed the difference right away in the way we felt during and after sport.
While the electrolyte tablets are convenient, some of them have off-putting flavors, added sugars, and questionable ingredients.
I realized how easy it is to make Homemade Electrolyte Water at home and I can’t wait to share it with you.
This Homemade Electrolyte Water is made with Eden Foods French Celtic Sea Salt and lemon and lime sweetened with maple syrup.
Mix it up this summer for the perfect way to hydrate!
What You Need to Make Homemade Electrolyte Water
Here’s what you need to make Homemade Electrolyte Water:
- filtered water
- lemon
- lime
- Eden Foods French Celtic Sea Salt
- pure maple syrup
That’s it!
How to Make Homemade Electrolyte Water
This Homemade Electrolyte Water is so easy to mix up at home and enjoy whenever you need a boost of hydration.
Add all ingredients to a mason jar with a lid and shake until everything is well combined and the salt is entirely dissolved.
Alternatively, you can whisk everything up with a fork.
Chill in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours before serving, or enjoy it immediately!
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Eden Foods French Celtic Sea Salt
I used Eden Foods French Celtic Sea Salt to keep this electrolyte drink balanced and hydrating.
This hand-harvested, unrefined sea salt has no chemicals added but boasts lots of trace minerals!
The salt comes from the Isle of Noirmoutier in Brittany, France using the Celtic hand-harvest methods for sea salt, the same practice used today.
The traditional Celtic process captures a wealth of trace elements and produces the best quality salt!
I love that Eden Sea Salt is lower in sodium and higher in calcium and other minerals.
This sea salt is in its natural state with the same trace minerals that are found in the ocean.
The jar is packed in glass to retain the great flavor and prevent moisture from getting in.
Try salting any dish with Celtic Sea Salt or add a pinch to your water for the ultimate hydration!
Swaps and Substitutions
While I love the mix of lemon and lime in this recipe, you’re welcome to use all lemon or all lime.
Make sure you have a decent ~Tablespoon of citrus to squeeze in, whichever you choose!
I chose maple syrup to lightly sweeten my electrolyte water naturally.
However, if you don’t like the taste of maple syrup or prefer another sweetener, you can use any liquid sweetener like date paste or honey.
Feel free to adjust the measurements depending on taste, using less or more citrus, sweetener, or sea salt.
How to Serve Homemade Electrolyte Water
I like to mix up this drink pre-workout so I can enjoy it during and after I sweat.
You can refrigerate it for an hour or two for chilled water or enjoy it at room temperature.
Pack it in your reusable water bottle and take it on the go for hiking, camping, running, climbing, and all the things.
See if you notice the boost Celtic Sea Salt adds to your healthy lifestyle.
And this recipe isn’t just for the highly active, friends!
Even us low impact humans need our electrolyte needs met.
Try it out first thing in the morning the rehydrate after a night deprived of liquids.
Enjoy!
