Berry Baked Oatmeal

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

Berry Baked Oatmeal made totally oil-free, gluten-free, and refined-sugar-free. Meal prep a pan and reheat for an easy breakfast!

Berry Baked Oatmeal in baking dish with spoon and granola and berries on the side

How do you structure and measure your days, friends?

Every morning before jumping into work I make a list of my top three priorities for the day.

These “impact tasks”, we’ll call them, are the things that I know move life forward even if absolutely *nothing* else gets done.

I am what I’ve heard referred to as a time optimist, which sounds like a positive thing but is actually kind of a curse.

I *always* think I can do more in 24 hours than is actually humanly possible.

So, lately I’ve been working on lowering my expectations for myself.

And choosing impact tasks that are meaningful but not necessarily ground-breaking and grueling.

Sometimes something as simple as calling a friend back or finding time for a 60 minute yoga class drastically shifts my perspective and trajectory of the day.

Or meal prepping a delicious baked oatmeal for the week!

This Berry Baked Oatmeal is sure to meet all of your breakfast expectations.

And, yes, you should probably add it to your top three impact tasks of the day.

It’s made in less than an hour for a naturally sweet breakfast that’s popping with berries, oatmeal, and nuts, for a nutritious start to your day.

Teriyaki Sheet Pan Meal

By Flora & Vino 4 Comments

One pan meal with chickpeas, broccoli, sweet potato, and mushrooms in a homemade low-sodium low sugar teriyaki sauce. Perfect for meal prep!

Teriyaki Sheet Pan Meal served on a while plate on a blue cloth with sheet pan in corner

Guys, this week I gave my very first haircut.

I’m not sure if it was braver on my part or his.

After a 30 second YouTube tutorial and zero prior experience, I sat him down on the edge of the spare bathroom bathtub.

Wait, I said, before starting, them scampered to grab a sea foam green towel from the linen closet that I draped around his shoulders.

“So professional,” he said, and I snorted as I measured tufts of hair between fingers then snipped with crude kitchen aid Kitchen shears.

I started out timid, taking only shy centimeters of split ends off.

Then I got braver, and the whole ’do started to take shape the way my drawing final in art class became 3D with charcoal shading and my food photos draw in the eye with a well placed S curve.

It’s an art.

And it was fun!

I only nicked his ear once with the razor (oops!), and managed not to cut either party, so I’m going to call it a smashing success.

Overall, I think he was pretty satisfied with the job.

Next time I should charge, right?

Before you get super excited about a potential Flora & Vino salon opening, let’s all calm down and bake a sheet pan meal.

This Teriyaki Sheet Pan Meal is cozy for the dropping temperatures with nourishing vegetables and an easy homemade teriyaki sauce!

Mix up these quick oatmeal raisin cookie overnight oats for meal prep breakfast with gluten-free oats, raisins, cinnamon, and SunButter.

Oatmeal Raisin SunButter Overnight Oats by Flora & Vino

I never thought I’d admit being sick and tired of a yoga sequence.

But friends, I am officially *over* the yoga sequence I prepared for my Yoga Teacher Training “Teach Out”.

I was up into the wee hours of the night practicing, pacing around my living room while playing and pausing my YYT playlist on Apple Music.

Today is a Sunday, like many other Sundays, but don’t let that fool you.

Today is the day I do my final “teach out” in yoga teacher training.

This is also a special Sunday for you, too!

It’s also the day I share this Oatmeal Raisin SunButter Overnight Oats with you.

Mix them up in advance for a sweet dessert-inspired breakfast conveniently packed into a mason jar.

Blueberry Pie Oatmeal

By Flora & Vino 6 Comments

Simple stovetop oats naturally sweetened with banana. Topped with an easy sugar-free blueberry pie compote. Perfect for workweek breakfast!

Blueberry Pie Oatmeal served in bowls with spoons with two spoons topped with blueberry compote and fresh blueberries

Well hello, lovelies, and welcome to August.

I started off the month with an early bird Solid Core class (5:30 AM!!!) and a big bowl of oats that taste like pie.

OK, I make it sound seamless, but the truth is that there was a lot of snooze button-slapping and matcha-slurping that propelled me here.

Wanna join?

OK, if you can’t make it to class, I get it, but you should at least join me for breakfast.

This Blueberry Pie Oatmeal is my current favorite way to eat oats.

It’s completely fruit-sweetened and packed with protein, fiber, and a 2-ingredient blueberry pie compote….

Tofu Sheet Pan Meal

By Flora & Vino 6 Comments

Tofu Sheet pan meal with tofu, vegetables, and “cheezy” no-cheese miso tahini sauce. Serve over quinoa or by itself for an easy and filling weeknight dinner.

Tofu Sheet Pan Meal served with "Cheezy" Miso Tahini Sauce in bowls by Flora & Vino

Happy Monday, friends!

I have a new/old one-pan meal recipe for you today.

New/old?

Let me explain.

I still remember the day I first made and photographed this Tofu Sheet Pan Meal with “Cheezy” Miso Tahini Sauce.

It was one of those shoots that really flowed, trying out new angles on my sleek new black granite photography board, each new shot seeming a little better than the last.

I mean, roasted veggies and lightly browned tofu glistening with a creamy miso-tahini drizzle?

Looking good, one-pan meal.

“Cheezy” Chickpea Sheet Pan Meal

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

“Cheezy” Chickpea Sheet Pan Meal with chickpeas, veggies, and nutritional yeast seasoning. Vegan, gluten-free, grain-free, and perfect for meal prep!

"Cheezy" Chickpea Sheet Pan Meal

Well hello there!

How was your weekend?

This past week/weekend I went to Natural Products Expo East and visited with all of my favorite brands and scoped out the newest products in natural foods.

It was a lot of walking, a lot of talking, and a lot of sampling!

Somehow I had the bright idea to hit the grocery store on the way home from the trade-show, to, you know, kill two birds (two tofus?) with one stone, so to speak.

After being surrounded by food and chatter about food all day PLUS lugging of all of the loot from the show AND all of my groceries up three flights of stairs (we’re on the top unit of a stacked condominium!)– I decided I didn’t want to see or hear about food again. Like ever.

But then of course that changed because…a girl’s got to eat.

I eased back into the kitchen today with this fail-proof 1-Pan Meal that’s perfect for meal prep!

If you’re feeling a bit tired, frazzled, and food-overwhelmed like me, this “Cheezy” Chickpea Sheet Pan Meal is exactly what you need.

Come on, let’s do it!

Moroccan Sheet Pan Meal

By Flora & Vino 3 Comments

Moroccan Sheet Pan Meal seasoned with harissa paste, fresh mint, and tahini. Enjoy by itself or served over greens or grains.

Moroccan Sheet Pan Meal served in a bowl with a fork topped with fresh mint and drizzled tahini

Hi friends!

Do you have a Cava near you?

I discovered this Mediterranean fast-food-ish type place a little over a year ago after meeting a friend there for lunch.

We were there during the work-week rush so I ordered in a hurry, fearing the wrath of the guys in suits behind me on business lunch hour.

I ended up getting something with harissa and veggies and it was gloriously good.

Recently and separately, Dan discovered it too, so when he told me, “There’s this place I think you would like…it has your type of food…”

I totally didn’t say I found it first…(HA).

But I did find this Moroccan Sheet Pan Meal first…#braggingrights.

This easy one-pan meal has a great combination of hot and cool flavors that keeps each bite interesting.

Spicy chili pepper and cayenne balanced out by creamy tahini and cooling mint.

Is it hot?

Is it cold?

It’s just YUM.

It definitely keeps the Cava cravings at bay, as the closest one to me is at least 30 minutes away!

Summer Squash & Chickpea Meal

By Flora & Vino 2 Comments

Summer Squash & Chickpea Meal packed with summer produce in under 30 minutes! Perfect for busy summer nights and weekly meal prep.

Summer Squash & Chickpea 1-Pan Meal served on platter with wooden spoons and small plates

Dan has a theory that food tastes better if you clean the dirty dishes before you chow down.

I wouldn’t know, because I always greedily dig into my food while I let the dirty dishes “soak”.

They totally need to do that, you know.

That’s why I make meals like this Summer Squash & Chickpea Meal so there’s only one pan staring up at me under soap suds after dinner.

Oh, and because it tastes like everything fiery and fun about summer in a pan.

I love making this one-pan meal because it builds on itself until you’re left with a pan brimming with perfectly spiced chickpeas and veg.

How can all that flavor fit in just one pan?

Well, it is a pretty big pan.

No, seriously, pull out your largest pan for this recipe because you need to accommodate for a lot!

SunButter Berry Spring Parfait

By Flora & Vino Leave a Comment

A creamy, crunchy, berry-packed parfait layered with SunButter, granola, and a touch of jam for the ultimate spring breakfast or snack.

SunButter Berry Spring Parfait in glass jar on wooden board with berries and granola sattered

It’s been a minute since I’ve sat down to write like this, so…

Hi, how are you?

I feel like I’m catching up with a friend over coffee, except it’s spring, my allergies are absolutely raging, and I’m clutching something cold and creamy instead.

Lately I’ve been feeling this quiet but steady pull to shift toward different rhythms, different priorities, and honestly, more of what lights me up.

After feeling kind of stuck for a while, I finally feel…unstuck.

Like things are moving again in a way that feels aligned and energizing.

A lot of that has been coming through yoga!

I’m co-hosting a Yoga Foundations workshop this April (which feels so me in this season of returning to basics).

I also started teaching a new class that’s been stretching me in the best way.

It’s like all things yoga are calling me back in, and not just the movement, but the intention, the curiosity, the slowing down.

Even outside of that, I’ve been leaning into more creative, grounding things at home.

I’m finally learning how to crochet after receiving the cutest little snake plant kit from a step-by-step guide.

Each pull of yarn through with the hook feels like a massive celebration and I shout out to M, “I did it! I did it!”

Also! We finally took down the baby gate so Flora now has full roam of the house which feels both freeing and slightly chaotic, but mostly just right.

It was one of those things where we needed to just rip off the bandaid; accepting loss of control so Flora can learn, grow, and chew a lot of shoes along the way.

And in the middle of all of that, I keep coming back to simple rituals that anchor my day, like this SunButter Berry Spring Parfait.

It’s easy, nourishing, a little layered (like life right now), and something I can throw together even when my brain feels full.

Creamy yogurt, juicy berries, crunchy granola, and ribbons of SunButter; it’s the kind of breakfast or snack that meets you where you are.

It does this whether you’re in a season of change or just trying to get through allergy season one spoonful at a time!

Carrot Cake SunButter Overnight Oats

By Flora & Vino 2 Comments

Carrot cake overnight oats made with creamy SunButter and blended carrot milk. Vegan, meal prep friendly, and perfect for spring mornings.

Carrot Cake SunButter Overnight Oats served in mason jars on wooden board

Our last yoga teacher training felt expansive in a way that’s hard to put into words.

We spent hours moving, breathing, and exploring what it means to truly practice; not just physically, but energetically.

Outside the studio, the weather here has mirrored that same sense of transition.

One day this March it was a balmy 85 degrees and then the next morning it snowed!

These shifting seasons is a visual representation of how external world changes and how we’re invited to soften and adapt with it.

Lately I’ve also felt called back to poetry, a love that I discovered in high school and college only to abandon in my adult life.

I love reading Mary Oliver and Andrea Gibson and Christ Steyn, who always have something to say that resonates deep in my belly.

Maybe it’s the spring season, maybe it’s the introspection of training, or maybe it’s simply the reminder that growth rarely happens in straight lines.

My Carrot Cake SunButter Overnight Oats feel like a little reflection of that transition.

They’re comforting and nourishing with cozy carrot cake flavors that still feel fresh and bright enough for the longer, lighter days ahead.

These carrot cake overnight oats are made with creamy SunButter and blended carrot milk and are vegan, meal prep friendly, and perfect for spring mornings….
