No-bake vegan apple butter truffles made with almond flour, warm spices, and dark chocolate. An easy gluten-free holiday dessert!

The house is slowly starting to feel like Christmas.
We’re in the middle of getting everything ready to host M’s parents and brothers visiting from Germany for the holidays, and I can already feel the anticipation building.
I’ve been deep-cleaning, arranging furniture, and making lists of everything I want to cook and share with them.
We don’t have our tree up just yet, but the stockings are already hanging, and I’m playing Christmas music every chance I get.
That means while cooking, cleaning, and recipe testing alike!
There’s something so special about sharing my American holiday traditions with M’s family for the first time, and it’s making this season feel even more magical.
In true holiday fashion, I’ve already started testing cozy, shareable treats for when everyone arrives, and these Apple Butter Truffles were one of the very first recipes I made.
They feel like the perfect welcome dessert: simple, festive, warmly spiced, and made for sharing from a platter by the fire with mugs of hot cocoa or mulled wine in hand.
If fall coziness could be rolled into a bite-sized dessert, this would be it.
These truffles are rich, spiced, naturally sweetened, and coated in a glossy layer of dark chocolate for the ultimate no-bake treat.
They’re everything I love about the season wrapped into one simple recipe: warm cinnamon, subtle nutmeg, and the slow-simmered flavors of apple butter in every bite.
These truffles are perfect for holiday gatherings, edible gifting, or a little something sweet to keep in the fridge for the busy days ahead.
Best of all, they come together with just one bowl, require no baking, and can easily be made gluten-free and refined sugar-free depending on your chocolate choice!

What You Need for Apple Butter Truffles
Here’s what you for the truffle center:
- superfine almond flour
- oat flour
- Eden Foods Organic Apple Butter
- maple syrup
- cinnamon
Here’s what you need for the chocolate coating:
- dark vegan chocolate chips
- coconut oil
That’s it!
Some optional toppings are finely chopped nuts, cinnamon sugar, or shredded coconut!

How to Make Apple Butter Truffles
In a medium bowl, whisk together the almond flour, oat flour, and cinnamon until well combined.
Add the apple butter and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, stirring until a sticky dough forms, then taste and add more maple syrup if desired.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 30–60 minutes, or until the dough is firm enough to scoop.
Using a small cookie scoop or teaspoon, portion the dough and roll into smooth balls, placing them on a parchment-lined tray.
Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil in the microwave or over a double boiler, stirring until completely smooth.
Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate using a fork or dipping tool, letting the excess drip off, and return to the parchment-lined tray.
While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with any desired toppings.
Refrigerate the truffles for 20–30 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully set.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.

Eden Foods Apple Butter
Eden Foods Organic Apple Butter is the true flavor backbone of these truffles.
Made with slow-simmered organic apples and warm spices, this apple butter has naturally caramelized sweetness without any artificial ingredients or added sugars.
Its thick, velvety texture helps bind the truffle dough while keeping the centers soft and fudge-y.
This apple butter’s cozy spice profile enhances the cinnamon and nutmeg already in the recipe.
When paired with rich dark chocolate, the result is a perfectly balanced truffle that tastes indulgent, nostalgic, and elevated all at once!

Swaps and Substitutions
These truffles are very forgiving and easy to customize based on what you have on hand and your personal taste.
You can adjust the amount of maple syrup depending on how sweet your apple butter is or how sweet you prefer your desserts.
For a deeper, warmer spice profile, try adding a pinch of ground cloves, ginger, or allspice.
If you need a nut-free option, sunflower seed flour can be substituted for the almond flour, though the texture may vary slightly.
For added crunch and flavor, finely chopped walnuts or pecans can be mixed directly into the dough or used as a topping before the chocolate sets.

How to Serve Apple Butter Truffles
These Apple Butter Truffles make a beautiful addition to dessert boards, holiday cookie boxes, or as a cozy make-ahead sweet to keep on hand during the busy season.
Arrange them on a festive platter alongside mugs of hot tea, cocoa, or even a glass of red wine for an indulgent holiday treat.
They make a beautiful addition to dessert boards, cookie exchanges, or holiday gift boxes.
You can sprinkle extra chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or cinnamon sugar on top for a decorative touch.
They’re perfect for sharing with family and friends during holiday gatherings, or simply keeping a few in the fridge for an anytime cozy treat.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, and let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving to soften slightly.
They’re best served slightly chilled for a soft center with a satisfying chocolate snap!
